Ari had been about to respond with more annoyance, but he stopped before he even started. His eyebrow quirked, irritation replaced with interest. It was probably a joke, an attempt to get a rise out of him and act like some bigshot that threw awesome sex parties or something--but, well, shit, guy looked pretty loaded, too.

Either he was bluffing or he was serious, and Ari, frankly, liked to explore all avenues. Especially those that involved money or pleasure.

Enemy territory, that, and Ari had never set a foot there before, not once. He knew he could get there just fine; he wasn't infamous or well-known enough yet to have a problem. But it wasn't getting in that he was worried about; it was getting out, it was having a chip implanted in his hand. Just the thought of that, of being branded like that, of being tethered even loosely, sent a chill down his spine. And hell if he wanted to be anywhere near a bunch of fucking dragons.

He could change his mind, wait out the set, and go. Wasn't like there weren't plenty of other venues. Wasn't like was lacking in opportunities. Because fuckin' Aedolis?

But as the set drew to a close--and with it, the weight and excitement and dread of what he'd just agreed to--Ari found himself going forward rather than back. Fuck it. He would regret not going more than he'd regret going, and if shit hit the fan, at least he'd have a good story later.

The set ended and Ari headed for the starjumper with his new entourage, Ruby on one arm and another girl whose name he didn't know hanging on his other. They lead the way to the ship, and Ari marveled at it; it was classy as fuck--though, in his opinion, his ship was still prettier. Ah well. Here goes.
