Jaxon grinned back at Ari at the promise of alcohol, growing excited to see the ship and get more drunk (Because after all, drunkenness only breeded more drunkenness). Ari's next words, flirty as he seemed to be often, did little to surprise Jaxon. Space pirates and the like were usually the first to speak their minds as bluntly as possible, especially when it came to sex. That was why Jaxon almost always ended up with one when he was looking for a one night stand. Anyone else- especially on the more 'civilized' planets where having sex freely was frowned upon- tended to react badly to being come onto. Well, space pirates were another story. Like Ari said, there was nothing to do when you weren't doing your job besides each other. And what was the harm in that? Jaxon found Ari attractive, too, and he had no problem with casual sex as long as the prior standard was being met. Beyond sex and attraction? Jaxon knew little.

He would have replied to Ari, almost certainly to encourage him, but before he knew it he was being pulled out the door. Ari was quite the active person, apparently. Too buzzed to object, Jaxon just let himself be strung along until they stopped to see what the crowd was cheering over. Seeing the girls playing body shots, Jax laughed, mostly because of the irony of Ari wishing for it and then it appearing as they were leaving. He almost wanted to stay- for Ari's sake- but the captain didn't pause long, and once they were off again the thought drifted away.

"Good to almost be on board," Jaxon returned as they stepped outside and began walking down the busy streets of the Red District, "I'm lookin' forward to meeting the crew and seeing what you got on board. Weapon specs?" he asked curiously, not wary about letting his eagerness show, mostly because Ari already felt like a friend. And he was glad to have the buddy-buddy dynamic with him already. If he hadn't clicked with the captain he met, then Jaxon was sure he wouldn't have joined the crew. It was important to him to have this sort of camaraderie, as it had been in his old gang. And yes, maybe he was being a little too nostalgic, but sue him for chasing the best days of his life (that he could remember). He'd never had friendships that hadn't sprung out of this sort of 'allegiance', save for Toori. It was being a part of something together that Jaxon was used to, not seeking friends out of strangers.

"Oh, and by the way.. there isn't gonna be any booze left after I'm done with your ship," he pointed out with a grin.

Ari let out a laugh and slapped Jax on the back. "Ya expect me to talk technobabble when I'm buzzed?" he asked, and snorted. "We'll talk specs when I'm sober, deal?"

Because honestly, that was why he hired folks to deal with the weapons and shit. Sure, he could pilot the ship and run it and even manage some basic repairs, but he was no mechanic, no weapons' specialist, no doctor, no engineer. His job and specialty was dealing with all the other shit--managing crew, cargo, navigation, keeping up with contacts, checking up on international policies and laws...a lot of boring stuff to make sure the ship ran smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

So he couldn't really rattle off what  kind of engine his ship ran on, but that's what he paid people for.

"Anyhow, well. good thing we're grounded for now, eh? The booze is there to be used! We run out? We pick up more and drink again!"

It wasn't a long trek to the docking bay--and it wasn't difficult to find his ship, even drunk. The thing stood out like a pink fox hiding in the snow. The sleek ship was covered almost completely in graffiti-style art with the words "Sassy Juice" written along the side in bold, colorful letters. Ari liked attention and liked making an impression. Sure, maybe he wouldn't be sneaking in anywhere with a ship like that, but he didn't do sneaking; that's why he had a shift ship.

Ari stopped in front of the ship and let out a happy sigh, staring up at the thing like a proud father. "Welp, there she is. That's my girl."
