Demon
« on: September 07, 2007, 04:01:00 am »
The girl lunged at the scientist sinking her fangs into his arm and causing him to cry out in pain. She growled at the ones stood behind him who backed away in terror, they always hated collecting this particular specimen. Her crimson eyes glared at them and her ginger hair was in wild disarray making her look like a rabid beast. She was alone in her cell because she was so dangerous, but she was also a very valuable specimen so eliminating her was out of the question.

The girl backed up slightly but then pounced again, landing squarely on the chest of another scientist digging her claws in and knocking him over before barging through the scientists into the corridor.

This was not unusual she had managed to escape from her room several times before but she had never successfully made it out of the corridor. Recovering from the shock, a female scientist shot a tranquilizer at the girl. She paused before crumpling to the floor in a heap.

“Get those two to the medical bay, the female scientist commanded before cautiously walking across to the girl.

She was conscious, just but her rabid look had gone and now she seemed far more human.

“Now, now Zenobia, must you set you demon on anyone who tries to enter your room? It really does get tiring, she jeered.

Zenobia glared at the woman and simply said, “Screw you! before passing out.

The call for medical aid in the corrider Yuri was about to turn into sent two thoughts through his head. That he could turn around now and pretend the scientists that normally dealt with Chinara's latest 'interest' wouldn't let him near her, and that while breaking into Wing Alpha's records to study would be difficult, the threat of physical harm was less. This latest assignment was pure Chinara, she didn't want to share the unique speciman so she wanted Yuri to find one like her. She hadn't quite told him what she was interested in, just that she wanted one like this speciman. Seeing her in person might give him an idea of what Chinara wanted. So it was in the corridor for him.

Yuri raked a hand through his messy black hair, put it back in his pocket and turned the corner, taking a look at what lay down it. The girl lying on the ground had to be the speciman, interesting. He didn't hear much about specimans getting out of their cells. Of course, it also made approaching the scientist standing next to the speciman potentially difficult.

"Good afternoon doctor," he said pleasantly, grinning a little, his fangs unextended. "I'm Yuri Issendai, here on behalf of Dr. Chinara Zeney. Dr. Zeney wants me to observe this speciman for her." The little black wings on the sides of his head fluttered, rising up a little and then falling back to their usual level when they stopped.

The scientist frowned at Yuri and muttered something about Zeney being interfering then said, “Approaching her is not advisable, if you like your limbs the way they are. She is extremely volatile.

The scientist then paused, Chinara could be very irritating and always stuck her nose into other people’s experiments, and maybe if one of her underlings got hurt by Zenobia it would teach her a lesson.

The female scientist then motioned to some very nervous looking scientists to pick Zenobia up off the floor, which they did very unceremoniously.

“On second thought, we about to perform some tests on her, the scientist said to Yuri, “you can observe if you wish…I am Doctor Mino by the way.

Mino then turned on her heel and began striding down the corridor behind the scientists carrying Zenobia.

Frowning wasn't good, unless she was the type that thought so hard she ended up frowning a little. Nah, she was muttering too and the subject was dangerous. That didn't surprise him, Chinara told him this speciman was a little more firey than most, but there were always some that had some pepper in them. This was the first time he could recall being warned that a speciman was a threat to his limbs when it was in TRIM. Before TRIM there were plenty that could, but they could usually be controlled once they were on the space station.

No wonder Chinara wants something like this, he thought. Those last couple dishrags must have really dissapointed her. Hmph, it's what she gets for asking for young subjects... Yuri's little wings began to flap again while he began thinking if he could sway this scientist by mentioning that Chinara or Silence, his mother, would just get him bionic limbs.

Then, after her companions picked up the speciman, the scientist had a change of heart. Suspicious... but still better than getting caught with his fingers in TRIM's records, again.

Yuri sped up to walk next to Dr. Mino and grinned again, shifting his hands so only the thumbs hooked into his pockets. "You had me worried for a second Dr. Mino. Dr. Zeney's a big girl, she doesn't throw temper tantrums anymore, but she doesn't like hearing that she can't have something." He shrugged. "Unless she's got something else in mind, or if it's truly unattainable."

Mino ignored Yuri’s ramblings as she entered the observation room. It appeared to be completely metal except for a large glass window in one wall. It allowed the scientists to see the subject, but the subject couldn’t see them. Zenobia was already in the room, still unconscious and the other scientists were bustling around pressing buttons on various controls panels or just taking notes.

Mino stood in front of the window and said sharply, “Wake her up.

She then turned to Yuri and said, “Today we are seeing if it is possible to activate her abilities using an external source. Currently only she can activate them but she doesn’t have total control. We are hoping if we can control it so won’t be as much of a menace.

A robotic arm appeared in view of the window holding an electrical charged rod; it struck Zenobia with the rod, rousing her instantly. However what woke up was debatable as to whether it was Zenobia or not.

She thrashed against the window and launched herself again the sides of the cell, snarling like some kind of wild animal. Her eyes glowed crimson and her fangs were noticeably extended.

“Don’t worry, she can’t get out of there, Mino said matter of factly, “We now need to wait until she reverts back to her human self.

Yuri glanced at the other scientists in the observation room before looking through the window at the speciman. He glanced at Dr. Mino for a second when she began explaining, but his eyes were soon glued to the window again. Manners be damned, he wouldn't go very far getting a spicy speciman for Chinara if he spent all this time staring at Dr. Mino's face.

"Interesting..." he murmured, watching the arm strike the speciman.

The speciman didn't seem to like that. Then again, who wouldn't be angry after being zapped awake? Yuri flinched when she began throwing herself around, his heels lifting off the ground and right hand moving toward his empty belt. A product of too many things leaping at him, a useful reaction when he was out working, but here it made him look jumpy, nervous. Or worse, doubtful in the scientists' ability to restrain their speciman. Not too farfetched a claim considering how he stumbled into them. Though, in Yuri's experience, scientists didn't like being doubted. In their laboratories they were a god thank-you-very-much. Which, if he followed that analogy, the speciman raging around the cell had to be a demon, always messing with the god's careful plans.

Yuri laughed after Dr. Mino reassured him it was safe. "That's reassuring," he leaned toward the window again, almost close enough to leave clouds of breath on the glass. "What sort of abilities does she have exactly?"

“We haven’t discovered all of them yet, or so we believe. However so far we know she suffers from schizophrenia and whilst she adopts the more…vicious persona she has increased speed and strength, a high tolerance of pain and a decreased healing time.

Mino paused to press a button on the wall near the large window. A buzzer could then be heard over head.

â€œBut as I said, we believe she has many other abilities.â€?

A moment later the robotic arm appeared in the room with the girl again, this time holding a syringe.

â€œConsidering she often reverts to her other persona, which for the purposes of records we simply call Persona B, when we collect her for experiments my theory is that anger is the key to controlling when it emerges.â€?

The demon girl looked at the syringe in suspicion before it started to chase after her in the room. She leapt off walls and the large glass window in an attempt to avoid it. It zoomed after her for a while but with nowhere to go it eventually managed to pierce her thigh. The beast screamed more in annoyance than pain before collapsing to the floor in a heap.

â€œIn that syringe was a mild sedative which will hopefully cause her to revert to Persona A, her more docile personality.

Meanwhile behind the glass Zenobia opened her eyes. Everything was fuzzy so she assumed that bitch Mino had sedated her again. And she was in that stupid observation room where they assumed she didn’t know they were there. True, her demon wasn’t the sharpest of creatures but she was.

Leaning against the wall to support herself, Zenobia got to her feet and glared through the glass, she glared at Mino who though Zenobia couldn’t see her. Most people would realise the glass was the kind that could be seen through on side only but Zenobia’s powers weren’t restricted to just her demon, she could see the body heat of all the scientists behind the window and Mino was obviously the one in front with her arms crossed.

Mino noticed the girl blindly staring through the window and noted that the demon had gone dormant for the mean time. Zenobia’s eyes were their usually amber colour again.

â€œMr Issendai, meet Zenobia,â€? Mino said.

Schizophrenia, Silence's pet project, Yuri was almost surprised she hadn't tried to get ahold of this speciman herself. Though, when he thought about it, Silence was trying to induce schizophrenia in a speciman, or at least what the speciman would think was schizophrenia. The tiny voice transmitters she stuck in their brains didn't seem to give them anything more than a throbbing headache whenever she spoke to them.

"Or fear," he mused, grinning widely, after Dr. Mino shared her hypothesis. "Some things are pretty viscous when they get scared." He shrugged, toning his grin down to a smile. "Your guess is likely better than mine though.

Yuri watched the speciman closely as she moved to avoid the syringe. She was pretty determined, for a while he thought she would take out the robotic arm. He could only imagine how a creature similar to her would react out in the open - provided it was up against something it didn't want to fight against. Took note of how long she was down from the mild sedative. Long enough, perhaps to be tested, but not long enough if she needed to be moved. He'd need something with a stronger punch if he went up against a cousin of hers.

Now he could have sworn she was glaring at Dr. Mino. Yuri looked over his shoulder to see that, yes, Dr. Mino was standing about where the speciman was looking. Interesting. He doubted he could draw the speciman's attention when it was full of Dr. Mino and kept himself from waving or making any other sudden movements.

"Ze-no-bia," he parroted, drawling out the syllables of her name before looking over his shoulder at Dr. Mino. "Can she understand Common? I'd like to talk to her." That'd probably get him another warning about potential dismemberment, but it didn't hurt to try.

“If you wish, Mino said.

Zenobia or Persona A wasn’t that dangerous, wily and impudent but not very dangerous. There was a possibility that Persona B, the demon may emerge and tear Yuri’s arm off but that was a risk Mino wasn’t too worried about taking, lab assistants where expendable, particularly if they weren’t your own.

She turned to the window and saw Zenobia looking at her…no Zenobia couldn’t see her, why was she being so paranoid?

Mino walked towards the door to the room the girl was in and typed a code into the keypad. The door opened with a hiss revealing Zenobia sat crossed legged on the floor smiling at Mino tauntingly.

     â€œYes?â€? Zenobia said sweetly.

Mino frowned at the 19 year old, “Zenobia…Dr Issendai would like to speak with you. I assume you have no objection.â€?

â€œWhy do you even bother asking me that question,â€? Zenobia retorted, “We both know you don’t give men any choices.â€?

Smiling tauntingly again, she laid back and rolled onto her stomach never taking her eyes off Mino. She did that to play with the heads of male scientist in the room beyond, it wasn’t exactly hard to notice that Zenobia didn’t wear very much. Mino had tried to make her wear a proper gown like the other specimens but her demon side always ripped it to shreds. The gown she wore was ripped so much that it barely covered the main areas.

â€œLet me guess,â€? Zenobia continued, “This Issendai…he isn’t one of your people so you don’t care what happens to him. Am I right?

â€œInsolent girl!â€? Mino snapped slapping Zenobia square across the cheek.

Of course Zenobia was right but Mino didn’t want Yuri to know that, watching Persona B tear him to shreds would be entertaining.

Zenobia tutted, “Careful now. ‘Persona B’ might come out.â€?
Mino clenched her fists about to snap something at the girl but stopped herself. Clenching her fists and suppressing the annoyed growl that was forming the in the back of her throat Mino said, “Don’t listen to her. It isn’t worth talking to her really but if you want to. Be my guest.

Yuri dogged Dr. Mino, standing next to her when she tapped in the code. Though he doubted the speciman, Zenobia, was smiling at him, he grinned at her, extending his fangs enough so could see them. It was a gambit, she had fangs in her alternate persona, maybe she would be more receptive to another creature with fangs.

He gave Dr. Mino a brief, confused look when she introduced him as a doctor. Since she was still talking with the speciman he figured he could clear that up once he got in a word. In the meantime he watched the speciman lounge back. Very nice. Maybe the similar creature he would be hunting would be a relative of hers with the same nice genes. Yuri wasn't the sort of man to be discouraged by people casually talking about his death, so the speciman's musing about why Mino let him speak with her didn't distract him from getting an eyeful of her.

Mino's reaction to that statement did. Did she want to piss the speciman off? "Calm down Dr. Mino, no need to let the girl rile you up," he said soothingly while she fumed, giving her shoulders a quick rub. Completely unnecessary, but if it made her angry it might give him some rapport with the speciman.

That done, he took a step forward, standing in front of Dr. Mino and knelt. "Hello Zenobia," he said, grinning again. "I'm not a doctor, more of an agent. I'm Yuri Issendai, the Black Lotus, you probably haven't heard of me though. I just want to ask you a few questions."

[OOC] I'm sorry I didn't realise you'd replied >.<]

Zenobia looked Issendai up and do, his appearance was very strange. But then again she wasn’t exactly normal. She noted his fangs but she wasn’t sure whether her was threatening her or trying to friendly. He seemed okay, nicer than Mino anyway, but maybe he was just being nice because he couldn’t punish someone else’s specimen.

Zenobia rolled onto her back again, not unlike a baby lion cub and said, “What kind of questions?â€? in a sweet voice as she looked at him upside down.

She loved messing with men’s heads, it was the only fun she had around here, that and pissing Mino off. Of course when she had first arrived in the facility she had been a lot younger and only really attracted the weird doctors who had no qualms about her age. That was why Mino was in charge of her, a female would be less of risk. It was a shame really, Zenobia might have been able to charm a male doctor long enough so she could kill him and escape.

((XD no problem! I just thought you were thinking up something to post!))

Yuri could definitely appreciate the speciman's back and forth rolling. Soon enough, she'd roll out of out it and he could see, ahem, if there were any other markings hiding under those tatters. Yuri managed to get his eyes back on the speciman's after they took a round tour of the rest of her. Couldn't seem too eager, Dr. Mino probably wouldn't appreciate him ogling her speciman. She might throw him out on his ass and then he'd have to raid the speciman's files. Even if he didn't get caught immediately, he'd all but have 'I did it' written across his forhead once someone found that the file was missing. A few not-so sneaky looks wouldn't hurt though, Dr. Mino's male lackeys were probably boring holes in the speciman behind Dr. Mino's back after all.

"Personal questions," he paused a second, watching the speciman, listening for any sounds of objection from Dr. Mino, and continued. "Where're you from Zenobia?"

Zenobia sat up and began absent mindedly tracing the black markings on her arms.

  “Daanu,â€? she replied.
Though it had been her home, she didn’t have many happy memories of there. The people had always been afraid of her father and thought she would be just as dangerous, they were right. Because of this she didn’t have many friends there. She wasn’t going to tell Issendai this though, she was just going to give one word answers, why make his job too easy?

She guessed that Mino had introduced him as a doctor to intimidate her, like she was afraid of doctors. It wasn’t exactly hard to notice that Issendai seemed to be enjoying the spectacle of her rolling around on the floor. Mino didn’t seem to notice however, if she had she would definitely have thrown him out. Unless of course she was certain that the demon would kill him.

Daanu, great, a city on Earth. Maybe he could stop in and see if Chinara wanted anything else before he went off looking for a creature like this speciman. There were always a few people in Teinar desperate to get to the space stations. It'd also be a good excuse to go visit Scandal, Luxxie and Whimsy in Red Lit Desires.

"It's been awhile since I've been there last. Five, close to six years. Not much there to miss," he shrugged. "If you don't have any family or friends there I suppose. Is there anyone back in Daanu that might be missing you now?"

“Not likely, Zenobia replied casually as she inspected her nails, “Since the demon killed all the family I had.

That was the incident that had started everything. The demon killed her family, the next day she was thrown out of Daanu and given to Aedolis for them to deal with. They couldn’t control her however and after the demon massacred a couple of villages they realised she was far too much trouble than she was worth and handed her over to TRIM.

Zenobia smiled at Issendai, “It’s true, there isn’t much to miss in Daanu but here is far less interesting.â€?

Of course he would know that but she thought she’d make her point. She had to admit though; he was talking to her differently than the other doctors. With them it would just be a long list of questions, he actually seemed to be making small talk. If it hadn’t been for Mino stood there she might have sttod a chance in convincing this fool to help escape or at least be able to kill him and run.
