Physical Description

Personality
Jackal | Wild Card | Bloodthirsty | Manipulative | Charismatic | Natural Leader

Ruthlessly calculating, Vey is not one to have any kind of sentimental emotions towards people, though he is good at pretending otherwise. He excels in picking a person up when they're down, being the caring and understanding father figure, encouraging them to do their best and succeed. He does this all for himself, of course, surrounding himself with devout coworkers and friends who would do anything for him or his cause, and his cause has always been and will always be the expansion and growth of the great Aedolian Empire.

While he makes everyone around him feel like they belong and have a place, he is also a strong authority figure with an immeasurable presence that commands respect. You do not want to fail him, not because of fear, but because of fear of disappointing him. However, it is known that he does not give third chances. There's certainly a feeling when he walks into a room, perhaps awe or perhaps of intimidation, that makes most tend to fall silent the moment he starts to speak. Not only is he a wealth of tactical knowledge, but he tends to think of and account for everything before he speaks, often earning him the nickname of "the Man with the Plan" (which is very original.)

These days very few people see his true nature; a zealous and conniving creature always eager for bloodshed if it means great things for his beloved nation. He's willing to do anything and whatever it takes to ensure Aedolis continues to prosper, even if that means killing his own underlings with his bare hands.

Some little things:
  • Definitely has a collection of portrayals of himself in media (movies, action figures, tv shows, etc.)
  • Still has a lot of catching up to do in terms of how things work and can sometimes be a little... Out of the loop with technology.
  • Does NOT like robots nope not one bit.

Magic/Abilities
Umbrakinesis- Dark energy manipulation (WIP)

Relationships

History
As part of the indoctrination into Aedolian society starting at the youngest of ages, schools are filled with nationalist propaganda, a good portion of which aimed at youngsters focuses on the country's proclaimed heroes. People who contributed to the founding of their great nation, whose actions and deeds saved the lives of many and paved the way for the bright and prosperous future of generations to come.

In the wake of all the battles he won, the monumental feats of heroism as he saved the lives of Adelan citizens and forged onward towards their next victory, he became etched in history as one of the most pivotal figures in the great Aedolis's formation. His origin story just made him that much more likeable for the average citizen--a common person, like them, rising through the ranks through sheer ability and tenacity, or perhaps destiny, to overcome hundreds of obstacles in his path and become a legendary leader loved throughout time.

Things tend to get skewed as they're passed down through stories told over and over again, and the way he's portrayed now is often so far from the truth it's laughable. TV shows, movies, books, and music about him all tell the tales of a wise and just leader who was calm under pressure, steady as the sea and a tactical genius who would save his men in the nick of time.

Reality is much less idyllic.

Efel was born into an average family--middle class, however--so he was put through a military school and taught about tactical warfare from top professors, he just happened to excel at taking what he was taught and applying those concepts to real life situations. While he remained calm under pressure, it was not a tranquil and soothing calm--it was the calm of quiet, seething rage, that made his subordinates flinch as his expression darkened; he would often step out to the battlefield while muttering under his breath that if he wanted something done right, he had to do it himself. And when his men were in trouble he went out of his way to save them... The ones who were most useful, anyways.

In reality Efel was a calculating and ambitious man who saw every other person around him as a stepping stone or a tool to be used to further him along his journey to greatness. He was adept at recognizing a person's strengths and weaknesses, applying them to where he best saw fit, and he was also good at emotional manipulation. He knew well that you get more flies with honey; praising soldiers when they did a good job, and being gentle and understanding with someone's first mistake, these were all things he did well under the mask of actually caring about others. His men loved and adored him, so much so that when he rarely did slip up and lash out that it was misunderstood as the stress of such an important job putting too much weight on his shoulders. That just made them love him even more.

His victories were heavy blows to the enemy each time, and eventually it was decided that if they were to ever win against the Adelan troops, they had to make Efel their primary target. Take out the general, squash their morale, win the battle--and then the war.

The battle was long and gruesome, still mourned by many to this day. What a tragic event it was to have taken such a kind and competent leader from them, to rip the gifts his presence brought from their hands. Efel was isolated from his soldiers and surrounded, fighting to his eventual death with his equally beloved dragon Taryk against trained and specialized soldiers. The last thing he remembered was the pain of the blade of a bayonet piercing his ribcage and goring his heart, making his blood run cold as the wielder looked him in the eyes and whispered "Die, you Adelan scum."

Unfortunately for the enemy, Efel was a man of many plans, and his plan for this battle worked even as he unexpectedly took his very last breath. The captain and general of the enemy forces were taken down, and both sides were left leaderless, but through his second in command the Adelans were able to push forward long enough to recover his body for the funeral he so rightfully deserved and retreated. It was considered a draw.

News of his death quickly reached those higher in the chain of command, and a special team was sent to take his body and put it into cryostasis, among many other influential Adelan figures, in the hopes that perhaps one day the legendary Adelan hero would be able to open his eyes and see the future of the grand nation he'd helped build. And while the citizens of that great nation continue to mourn to this day, those officials didn't know how right they would be--that one day, Efel would open his eyes in the pristine white labs at TRIM.
