Running again (Open!)

Nastusia pulled her hood down further as she passed the Cancer’s many bars; she couldn’t let anyone know she was leaving. Not because they’d rat her out in a second, but because they wouldn’t betray her, they would be tortured before they’d tell anyone anything and they didn’t need that.

No, she would do what she had done all her life, slip away in secret never to be heard from again…by any mortals anyway. Being an immortal had many advantages but also many disadvantages. One disadvantage was that if TRIM were to ever get hold of her they’d be ecstatic and since she couldn’t die she’d be there a very long time. To make things worse she had done the equivalent of holding up a big sign saying ‘Come and get me TRIM!’ Enlisting Zenobia to send her information had been a risky move to start with and really she should have told the demoness when she realised the information was false. Too late for that now…

Instead she was back to running again, she would either buy her way onto or hide in any ship she could and get as far away from the Cancer as possible. And if TRIM got to her first…well she’d have to deal with it. She didn’t intend on being captured though, she had enough magic within her to destroy a planet if she wanted to. The problem was she hadn’t used her magic in a while and was a bit rusty; she might hurt innocents.

Most would doubt the population of the Cancer was innocent but they did not deserve to be caught in a massive cataclysm that knocked the station out of orbit. Nastusia had a sword hidden underneath her cloak but if mages or psychics came after her it wouldn’t be much use.

Sighing, she entered the docking bay and glanced around. There weren’t many ships in and they all looked too new and advanced for her to pass unnoticed easily and it was only really poor and desperate crews that took on passengers. It was going to be tricky.

When you had lived as long as she had and you made running your whole life, you learnt to keep up with the technology of the era because you never knew when you might need it. And it seemed she was going to need it now.
