A Recruitment Drive (Open)

"But we've always managed well enough on our own, why should we hire a crew now?" asks Neptune, arms folded in the pilot's seat of the Sanguine Scud, her hobnailed boots resting on the console.
"You're not thinking of the big picture. Do you really want to be a small fry forever?" says Triton, checking his hair in the mirror.
"Small fry? I'll taller than you"
"And uglier, but you know that's not my point. We're getting nowhere, nowhere fast."
"We're making money."
"Not nearly as much as we could. There is a vast fortune out there with our names on it, meanwhile we're skulking around for scraps."
"As your captain, I think it's a bad idea"
"As your engineer, I think we need a mechanic at least, and as your brother who was nearly blown to smithereens along with this entire junker" he knocks his hand on the rusted corridor wall for emphasis "the last time the auto-turrets failed, I say it might be a good idea to bring on a few gunners."
Neptune sighs. He's right, of course. Still, she has to be firm.
"Three, no more. And make damn sure they're reliable, because if they're not, you're all going out the airlock. Undesrstood?"
"Aye-aye, Cap'n". He didn't take her seriously, death threats were her way of having fun.

Mid-day, Cancer space-port. Neptune brought the Scud in for landing. When the ramp shudderingly descended, Triton strode out of it with a sign and a pair of folding chairs under his arms, a pair of passe sunglasses and a debonair smile on his face. He deployed the chairs, sat down, kicked his feet up, and held the sign out in front of him:

"CREW WANTED, AMPLE PAY FOR ABLE WORK"

His sister came out to sit next to him, grumpily, an SMG-style plasma gun across her waist. "I'll leave the talking to you".
"Good idea".

Nope, no. Not today mutherfuckers!

Swan was already making headway, scuttling between sections of jutting corridors that had served as a backalley for the clubs in this district of the Cancer. People went to Cancer station to disappear, or start over. They went here because no where else in the known solar system were they going to be found with. Hide among the crowd, as it were.

Well, that was a little hard to fucking do when you had long bioluminescant stripes running down your body, and two thirds of which could only reasonably be hidden under clothing. Swan was not fond of hiding his glowy bits, and he did not favor wearing hats, but he did what he could with what he had, and the slim tank that hugged his form was tucked into the cargo pants that were fitted well over long lithe legs. Combat boots and his blade strapped to his thigh, Swan pulled his hood up over his head, bristling at the eyes that were following him.

He didn't have to look behind him to know he was being followed, chances were 9/10 times he was going to be followed.

But no, not this time, they were fast. Swan was faster. He was good at hiding, slipping out and making nice where he had to in order to get what he wanted. All he wanted right now was to get the fuck out of plain sight and into some place where they weren't going to look.

Swan did just that, ducking into a port where a ship was coming in, and the moment it began to hover midway in landing, he slipped forward and waited for it to commence the drop of the airlock ramp. People were coming out, just a pair and no more, and Swan didn't hesitate in the second he had to quietly scramble out from underneath the ramp, pull himself up and hop aboard, listening for anyone else that was coming closer.

It didn't seem like there was, but it certainly never hurt to be too cautious. He didn't know the ship, or the nature of the visit, but it was definitely better than just blindly being followed.  Swan couldn't have been quieter, nor more pleased with his success. Some things didn't require a bargain, thankfully. Not when these two duds weren't careful about where they landed.

Hmm, perhaps there were some interesting things in their cargo hold.

Black clad legs pistoned one in front of the other as the android fought to keep the 5 foot long case strapped to it's back in place. The friction from constantly trying to run faster than they physically could started to evaporate the lubricant applied to the synthetic muscles and forced the legs to dwindle to a walk. The figure pushed on regardless, and broke out of the alley into the more reliably illuminated platform of Hangar 626.

Anton pushed himself through the crowd, narrow shoulders and broad coffin shaped case knocking pedestrians aside as he bee-lined for the far side of the chamber, entering into the recesses and alleys of the depots and buildings on the hangar deck. He left a trail of minor chaos in pursuit of his quarry.

Crucial seconds passed as he finally clambered over a low ventilation pipe and ducked beneath a catwalk to come up to a trench in the metal floor of a port, where crews could make repairs on the underside of landed ships. His shaded eyes scanned across the vessel parked there, an odd paint job making it hard to recognise. But he spotted the faintest glimmer of light and heat, an indication of what he was looking for. If he was wrong, the trail would already be cold either way.

Paying little attention to the odd looks of passers by he hoisted himself up onto the edge of the trench, and leaned out to see that the airlock was guarded by two crew members, one reclining back on his chair. Anton stepped up and walked out into the crowd, and made to go past the ship, looking at the airlock and seated pair from the corner of his eye, before spotting the sign.

He stopped and turned, as if suddenly becoming interested, and used a finger to lift his shaded eye gear up onto his forehead making a show of getting a better look. He forced his face to go softer, and started to swagger confidently over to the desk, shrugging the heavy case onto his shoulder more comfortably.

Stopping in front of the pair, he let the case drop and leaned against it, looking down at the man in the shades and smirking as he took his own pair off.
He spoke in a smooth and simple voice, pronouncing each word with care "Hey there skipper, I see you've been catching some of those star rays recently. Been hoping to do the same for a long while now, hence the gear." He slipped the shades back on, realising he may be trying to0 hard with the whole taking them off and putting them back on performance.
Anton let his face relax into a more serious one, "What sort of talent are you looking for exactly?" He said to the woman this time, before flashing his hidden eyes to the airlock and then back to them.
