The Aegis, The Velorak Ship

The Aegis/The Velorak Family

Ship Description
The Aegis is a warship, repurposed to mining, and then reconverted into a warship again. Much of the original frame remains, with a lot of the original storage space and ore smelting facilities being turned into gun batteries accommodations for the large amount of people that the ship is designed to hold, mostly the Velorak Family private army.

The ship is outfitted with a huge arsenal of weaponry.

The main gun is the large, "moon-cracker" class weapon housed in the main body of the ship, with the main loading bay between the two engine complexes. Powerful enough to leave space-visible marks on planets, the gun was built for ships that would travel to the far planets of the solar system and mine the resources at the centre of moons by literally ripping them apart from the inside. The gun fire rounds which collect energy as they travel through mass. Provided a large enough mass, the rounds can detonate the core of a moon with the force of 200 megaton bomb, shattering the moon from the inside out, and allowing the miners to collect valuable rare minerals. The rounds have been traded for standard rounds, turning the gun into a powerful mass accelerator cannon, capable of punching through the strongest shields and armour. The only draw back is the long reload time, power draw and aim time.

This main gun is supported by 800 individual missile platforms, scattered along the 5 kilometre colossus of a ship, all capable of locking onto individual targets, and are supported by twenty batteries of 10 manned turrets, with both beam and bolt guns on each turret.

The ship can support a total population of 20,000, but is run on a skeleton crew of a mere 9,000, all composed of descendants of Belial, the first cursed Velorak.

The ship is outfitted with a three port engine, capable of speeds up to 0.638 the speed of light, with a jump engine capable of 4.9 times the speed of light, and a turning speed of about 20 degrees a minute. The engine allows orbital altitudes, but not sub-orbital.

The ship carries a total of 45, 8-man mecha squads, as well as four 55-man fighter squadrons, all launched from launch tubes that were custom built for the purpose. There are a total of four hangars, with each hangar carrying 180 individual single pilot mecha, and 55 single pilot fighter craft. The rest of the hangar is filled with assault craft, such as troop transports and ground vehicles. Each hanger has 15 launch tubes, with an expulsion rate of 1 troop every 2 minutes in a single tube.

There are also custom launch tubes for the custom mecha used by commanders in the Velorak family.

There are four colour markings used by the Velorak mecha pilots, to distinguish between the ranks of the pilots, although all standard mecha are tuned to the same output via computerised system.

Family Objective
The current family goal is the extinction of the Adachi clan, under orders from the ancient and immortal Arimus Velorak, who harbours a grudge against the Adachis for letting Haru, his love, die.

Otherwise, the objective is simply to survive, to continue as a family, trade, earn income and just earn their way.
