First Strike (open for two people)

Xeranus smirked when he looked upon the Upper City. "It will fall... today, tomorrow, I don't know. But it will fall." His voice seemed more computerized due to his mask, but it made sense. He raised his hand and a red grid in the shape of a medium-size dog appeared next to him, quickly gaining flesh and blood and now resembled a dog crossed with a dragon. He raised his other hand and 10 other grids appeared, this time in the shape of small four-legged spiders, and they materialized into stalkers, creatures that shoot lasers out of their eyes and forelegs. "Go." The draco-hound leaped forward and the stalkers followed, descending on the Upper City. A couple shots rang out and three of the ten stalkers exploded into digital fragments, but the rest entered the outpost.

(You don have to fight alone. You can have the sentries take out some of the stalker, since they are weakest, and you can fight the hound solo. I don't care.)

Another day, another bounty and all that. Finch took a long drag on her cigarette as she headed to the upper "city". Time to go back out and make some money. She had her tools strapped on and she murmured a quick spell, surrounding her self in a protective shield of clean air. It was too toxic to breath on the surface without it. She had an air filtering mask for emergencies, but she liked her spell better.

The sounds of gunfire and fighting drew her attention. Sprinting forward, Finch unslung the shotgun off her back, pumping the barrel. There were weird spiders trying to break into the protective walls around the city.

Dropping behind some cover, Finch glanced back at the spiders and took a shoot, catching one right in it's face.

The remaining six stalkers turned to where the shot came from and crouched, bringing up their forelegs, and started firing lasers, trying to destroy the cover the girl hid behind. The draco-hound on the other hand flew into a tower and started killing the sentries there. A couple shots rang out and three more stalkers perished, and the hound flew to another tower, starting to slay the sentries in there.

Xeranus was pissed to say the least. "My Grid isn't back up yet... I can't bring in another monster!" He growled. Eventually, he spoke clearly into his mike; "Initiate Stalker-Destruct." The last stalkers exploded, but the digital fragments didn't disappear like the others, but came together and blasted the cover the girl was hiding behind to pieces. The draco-hound saw this and landed in front of the girl, snarling.

(Remember, it won't die with one shot, but rather 2 or 3)

He had been traveling through the ground, and was close to the surface when he felt the tremors of a battle. The old Tarrin frowned at this, they were far too close to the Upper city for his liking. He'd been planning on using one of the secret entrances to head down into the Lower city in order to put the final stages of his migration plan into action. If somebody was attacking the city, then he'd have to put a stop to it.

Tymah was already prepared for exposure on the surface, his body not having had much trouble adapting to the increased toxicity over the years. Of course, most of that was thanks to the Planet spirit it's self to ensure that he could survive until after his people has escaped the dying earth. With a push of his abilities, he surged forth through the ground faster, until the cacoon of stone and dirt around him broke the surface, then fell away to set him free.

The scene before him relaxed him some, discovering that it was the dragons and their pilots taking the place out... but it also put him into high alert. The way the things were fighting, it didn't seem as though they were natural creatures. It took him a bit, but he recognized the style... they were tech... old tech, but tech none the less.... However, he was certain that this sort of tech wasn't suppose to be able to be supported without being inside of a computer system.

He snapped into the present again when the cover the girl was hiding behind was destroyed. So this thing had power... time to show it how powerful the Planet still could be. Dropping into a crouch, he slammed his hands to the ground and concentrated in having the ground beneath the draco-hound surge upward.

SHIT!

Finch rolled to the side as her cover was blasted apart. This was not good. She wasn't expecting a fight this soon and not one this rough. Shrapnel flew at her and she ducked her head down, shielding her face. Her armor prevented any major damage, but bits of the wall ripped into her. It was going to hurt later.

But currently, there was far to much to worry about for her to focus on it. Dropping into a crouch, Finch kept her body low, sending off another shot at the strange dog creature as she moved for more cover. The sight of the new comer had her eyes widening. This day had gotten crazy!

The draco-hound yelped when it was thrown into the air by moving earth and it got impaled by a shard of building, disintegrating into digital fragments. Xeranus swore lightly and checked the Grid. It had enough power to bring in three more creatures. "Perhaps... no." He had considered going down himself, but instead he raised his hand towards the city, creating two red grids side by side in front of him. They materialized into Cannoneers, living cannons that walked on tripods. "Laser fire." Xeranus moved away so he couldn't be found as the Cannoneers charged up and unleashed a large beam each, one heading for the girl, the other for the newcomer.

Tymah did not like the look of this at all. Being on the surface was not going to help at the moment. So he brought a cacoon of stone and dirt around himself, and sunk into the earth. He was still close to the surface, and could sense the tremors of the cannon like monsters that had been summoned.

As he moved through the earth, he aimed to come up underneath one of the legs with enough force to take it out. Hopefully that would be enough to knock the thing off balance

Finch only just managed to dive out out the way of the cannon fire. This was so not good. She swore, body protesting slightly from it's earlier wounds. And now that other guy was gone! Swallowed into the earth!

Fuck!

"God, if you get me out of this, I promise I shall behave! Bring down your smiting on my enemies!" Finch made a quick sign with her hands, pressing her back against her new cover.

When the ground under one of the monsters exploded up, Finch's eyes widened, "Thank you lord!"

The Cannoneer stumbled and fell, legs flailing uselessly while its comrade kept moving. It fired another laser blast before a couple shots made it explode. Xeranus swore and walked into the Upper City himself. He raised his voice and said, "Cease your shooting!" He walked towards where the girl hid, his blades unfolding from his wrists, and sliced the cover to pieces. "Who are you, girl?" He asked. One of his blades refolded away. "You certainly are lucky, and I wish to know whom it is I will have killed." Xera's blade swifty rose and was inches from the girl's neck.

By this time, Tymah had returned to the surface and was watching the man make his way to the woman. He frowned when he saw that he was threatening to kill her. Time to make his appearance, he supposed.

Stepping out into the open, he picked up a rock. Weighing it in his hand for a second, he then threw it at the man's head with a bit of force. It wasn't suppose to hurt too much, but at least be enough of a distraction to draw the man's attention away from the woman. "You Tech! Your father was a microwave, and your mama was a toaster oven!"

(I get hit by a rock, I have to post... lol)

Xeranus put a hand to the side of his head where the rock struck him. Turning to the newcomer, he said, "Well, I think someone needs to chill... With steel that is." He did a sideways flip and started bringing down his blade, intending to cleave his new opponent in half. His other blade formed again as well, ready to use as a backup.

As soon as the bladed man looked away, Finch jerked away, grabbing her smaller pistol as she went. He was distracted by that other dude. She fired off several rapid fire shots, lips curled in a smile, "Did you just seriously say that?"

Probably not the best idea to get his attention against again, but she couldn't help it. He was ridiculous.

The old Tarrin had been anticipating the old Tech to turn his attack towards him, so he wasn't caught off guard.  When the other flipped into the air, he set his counter attack into motion. Summoning forth large spikes make of stone and dirt to thrust up at the man from different angles.

"Ha! You might be old Tech, but you're still a young pup compared to me!" When taunting your enemy, it was best to do it after your attack.

Shots bounced off his armor and he was caught by stone spikes. Didn't look so good. "Well, it seems we have some teamwork here... Good thing I have a team of my own!" He laughed and spoke clearly, "Materialization! Code: Xeran. Execute Sky-Serpent!" Five red grids appeared in the air and materialized into snakes with wings. "Attack!" Three serpents dove towards the geomancer, firing lasers from their mouths and the other two flew at the girl, also firing lasers. Xeranus groaned and shattered the spikes holding him and refolded his blades. "Good luck." He lughed and disappeared.

This just kept getting better and better! Swearing, Finch started moving, weaving across the ground. Her pistol went back into the holster, reloading the shot gun. "Lord, help me out here. You are just getting a little mean in your testing."

She skidded to a stop, a laser firing in front of her, only just missing her face. Whirling, she turned and sent off a shot, connecting with the beast, then took off running again.

The big guns, manned by soldiers, started to fire again as well, fresh troops arriving to replace the ones that had been killed.

If he ever ran into this particular old Tech again, he was seriously going to kick it in the gigabytes. Not only were the flying laser spitting serpents uncalled for... but if they weren't careful, they might attract the unwanted attention of the dragons....

When the lasers came towards him, he sunk into the ground again. He needed to think of something quick so that the girl didn't end up dead either. Once he felt the tremors of the laser hitting the earth pass over him, he rose up again. This time he brought with him a large stone sphere that was at least 7 feet across.

Focusing on the stone sphere, he used his abilities to lift it into the air, and hurl it at one of the fly laser snakes.

The one serpent got stoned, being destroyed instantly, while the other two closed in, hawking poison bolts instead. The one who got shot fluttered in place for a moment before collapsing, not quite dead. It slowly moved to the girl, while its partner fired another laser. Xeranus watched from behind a building, highly amused.

Finch swore again, ducking and trying to find cover that wasn't immediately destroyed by the people she was trying to hide from. There was a clink as a dart bounced off the metal wall, and Finch shook her head. This fight was getting weird. She was used to wastebeasts, not weird...machines and thrown rocks on all this shit.

Steadying herself, Finch moved quickly out from her cover, sent a shot off at the monsters face, then ducked back behind again. If she was lucky, it would finally stop moving and she could slink back into the city for a beer and try hunting again tomorrow.

Tymah saw that the two were coming straight for him, but this time he wasn't going to back down. he'd fought larger and nastier things when he was still a youngling deep down in the Below World. While they may not have been able to shoot lasers, they were still very likely to try and eat a Tarrin that strayed to far into their territory.

Dropping to his knees, he slammed both hands onto the ground, and summoned the earth beneath him to rise up quickly. This movement pushing him up on a high earthen pillar towards the closest one. The poison bolts would sting if they hit him, but he couldn't worry too much about them at the moment. His main focus was taking his remaining two out.

The closest one would be his target, manipulating the tower to move towards it, though keeping in mind it's stability. He had one shot at this before the pillar would start to crumble under the weight. At the right moment, he would have stone spikes thrust out the sides of the pillar as he launched himself at the serpent.

If all went well, he's have enough time to draw his blades, in order to sink them into the part of the serpent he landed on. Not only to harm it, but also to give himself something to hold onto while he was on it.

Every serpent thus far hit disintegrated into digital fragments, though two remained. One hissed and launched another poison bolt, the other glowed blue for a moment. Xeranus was confused. Then he realized what happened. "Shit." The blue serpent turned on Xeranus and fired a laser at him, hittng him dead in the chest, causing him to smash into a wall. He groaned and fired a bolt from his blaster, killing the serpent. "Enough." He hissed, the serpent remaining reverting into a red grid as it revirtualized into his armor. "You... Someone hacked my serpent... So, because I am now injured, I will concede defeat." He said, wheezing behind his mask. He stumbled forward and looked at the girl. "You... You fight well. Perhaps you will enter my world one day." He looked at the geomancer. "You, on the other hand, use magic. You aren't a fair fight." Wth that, he turned and stumbled into the wastes.
