A Little Meeting || shinigamikitsune && me || 1ST POST :'D

“Novus, I really wish you would stop that,” Micah hissed, rubbing the side of his face irritably. The little dragon, bored out of its mind, was idly poking the researcher’s cheek with the tip of its scaly tail. Novus drew back, feigned offense, and flicked his forked tongue out at his master, plumes of smoke curling indignantly from his nostrils.

“You’re full of crap,” Micah said passively, turning back to the screen. Novus bared his glistening fangs good-naturedly before curling up on the back of the decadent armchair and proceeding to spy on people through his translucent eyelids.

The Resource Center was basically Teinar’s library. The huge building was divided into three floors: Bottom floor was for more mundane, every-day things (how to fix your hover-craft, what to feed your new pet, etc.), Middle floor was more advanced, focusing on technical jobs and information, while the top floor’s main purpose was history, biology and economics. It was a relatively old building that received little yearly maintenance, so it was pretty ‘retro’. Few people used it anymore. In fact, a few years back, the city had been considering completely revamping it and altering its contents, but it had never gotten done, much to Micah’s happiness.

He practically lived here. He walked in and went straight up: The history section possessed the greatest number of tangible books that weren’t on screens, which was basically a formula for Micah’s heaven. There were even a few stands that held holograms of old books that were considered too precious for public use, and thus kept protected by the city. Micah would peruse these for hours, grey eyes alight with the pleasure of absorbing information. There were never more than five or six people there at a time, and since the building was so huge, Micah felt utterly and deliciously alone. The only time he was ever attentive to another soul’s existence was when it was a strange, humanoid creature. Many of them flocked to the top floor of the Resource Center, for the sole purpose that it was probably the least inhabited area in Lower City.

Micah would occasionally attempt conversation with these creatures, and while a few of them were happy for a little discussion, they would usually only give terse replies before leaving. Not all of them were friendly, and many preferred to be left alone.

As of now, he was entirely immersed in ‘Wasteland’s Beasts’ by Zax Imihg, researching for a new species they discovered in the Upper City. His right hand skittered furiously across the portable keyboard he carried with him, taking notes on the creature’s feeding habits from the TeleBook that floated in front of him. Despite his absorption, however, he always kept one eye open for somebody strange on the top floor….he never liked to pass up opportunities for discovery if he could help it.

The elder Tarrin had slipped into Tienar once again from below the city. Nobody really thought to keep guard for creatures that didn't need to use the passage ways in order to enter the city. Which suited him just fine, since he'd rather keep away from being noticed by too many people.

Tymah was on a mission tonight, needing to find some information as well as access to a computer. The Below World didn't have such technologies, though they honestly didn't need to rely on such things. Theirs was a race that had been created with the purpose to help maintain the balance of the Planet from within it. However, the Planet was now dying, and there was nothing that the Tarrin could do in order to stop it. The Surface Worlder's had pilaged and raped the Surface of the Planet for so long... had poisoned it to fatal degrees that the Spirit of the Planet could no longer fight to survive. Thus it had been decided that the Tarrin needed to move to a new Planet, to find a new home, and attune to a new Planet Spirit and continue their ways of life.

After having done some exploring, Tymah had decided that the Planet Mars would be perfect for his kind. It was already being tera formed on the surface by the race of Mordecai and their Mages who had migrated there when they knew that they could not do anything to save this Planet.

Knowing the new planet he would take his people to, Tymah needed to find a ship large enough that could carry a fair amount of his people, though not too large as to draw the suspicion of outsiders. The elder prince did not need to have his people discovered now. He had taken care, that once the Dragons had taken over the Pilots and declared themselves rulers, that the Tarrin's would no longer venture to the surface. They did not need to be invaded by those beasts who would undoubtedly enslave them.

Tymah was old enough to remember a time when there were no Pilots for the Dragons, back when the nations had different names, and the Planet was a lush and welcoming place. He had been young and somewhat naive then, sent on a mission to discover if the Surface World was ready to accept his kind again. Back then it was, and Tymah had been appointed as the main Embassedor between his people and the Surface Worlder's. He was now the eldest living Tarrin ever recorded within his people's history. That was why he was chosen to guide his people to a new planet. He knew far better then any of them the dangers that the surface held, plus he was also familuar with the technologies.

He knew enough that he could obtain the ever changing access codes to allow him into the places he needed to go. Though he refrained from doing this too often.

For how old he was, Tymah appeared to be only middle aged, compared to human standards. He had his fair share of battle scars, and had earned more tattoos from those years of battles and wisdom. He wore cloths that allowed him to fit in more with these people, though his feet were designed in a way that foot wear would never be an option. He also wore a hoodie so that he could hide his horns, and a long jacket that would mostly hide his tail.

Finding his way into the resource center he moved to the top floor. This part of the center was usually unoccupied so he could work in peace without being discovered. Once he was there, he pushed back the hood and proceeded quickly towards the computer terminal that he normal used.

Micah squinted at the computer screen before him, using his finger to rotate the 3-D image of the scaled beast so that he could better examine its underbelly. It was getting cooler on the Wasteland, and more and more creatures were venturing toward the warmth of the domes erected on the Upper City. Several people had already been wounded, and now Micah’s work had doubled. It was his job to find out anything and everything he could about the various creatures, so that they may either successfully detain them or drive them away before they began to interfere with the shipping to other communities.

As a result, the Resource Center had now been transformed into an area of work rather than pleasure, a fact that Micah was not happy with but resigned to. At least here he could get the quiet, the concentration that he required—

Another irritating jab at his cheek from the Lacerta’s tail. Micah impatiently waved it away and continued to scribble his notes.

Novus stood, translucent eyelids sliding open to reveal his ivory eyes. He turned around and jabbed his snout into Micah’s neck, moving his head so that the scales lightly scraped at the flesh. Micah turned, angry.

“What do you want?” he hissed.

Novus jerked his head in the direction of the computer terminal. Micah, fuming, followed his gesture…and his eyes quickly became a-light with discovery.

   “Whoa,” he whispered hoarsely.

Standing at the terminal was a very blue, very horned creature. It was humanoid in appearance, though its feet were animal-esque and exuded power. Long, shining purple hair hung down its back, the tips of two blue ears peeking up through the strands. Underneath the cloak, a slight bulge suggested something like a tail, though Micah couldn’t be certain. Since he could only see from the back, he did not know if it was male or female.

He looked at Novus. Never, in his entire life, had he seen such a creature. There were a few humanoids in Teinar who had slight resemblances to animals, but never were they this dramatic. Or if they were, they kept it hidden quite well. He wanted to approach this creature, ask questions, but he could not think of a single thing to say that wouldn’t sound rude or presumptuous.

“What do I say?” he mouthed to Novus. He rustled his cobalt wings in response, stared at Micah with intelligent bright eyes, and leapt off of the armchair. Micah’s mouth went dry.

Novus trotted over to the creature. He sniffed at its legs, raised his wings, and blew a small ring of smoke to undulate upwards and curl about its horns. Micah, mortified, turned away and sunk into his chair, face flaming with embarrassment. Why the hell did Novus always have to do this to him? What was he supposed to do now?

Tymah paused when he sensed there was another person on the floor. He hadn't expected it, but there was nothing he could do now, so he chose to ignore the little Surface Worlder and his pet. It wouldn't take him long before he would have the information he had come for, then he could leave.

However, it seemed as though the tiny pet had other ideas of his own.

He knew the little dragon was approaching him before it sniffed at his feet, though he waited until he saw the smoke ring before he turned around. Looking down he saw the little creature. "Ah, what are you doing here little one?" His voice was soft though it held a strong accent (think russian-esque). Tymah leaned down to hold out his clawed fingers for the dragon to gain his scent from.

Once the little dragon scented him, he ran his fingers over the spots that he knew dragon's loved to be rubbed. Well, at least those dragons that were still avoiding being caught by the collective Hive above.

After a moment of paying attention to the little beast he looked up directly at Micah. His eyes completely white except for the thin black slits of his pupils.

Micah practically dug a hole in the armchair, certain that Novus would receive either an irritated scolding or some sort of small painful kick, and half-hoping it would teach the little lizard not to cozy up to strange creatures right away. Many of them appeared humanoid, but he knew from experience that they did not always act as such. But the sounds that met his ears, however, seemed to be nothing of that sort. In fact…it sounded as though Novus was purring! And a strangely accented-voice floated through the air, low with kindness.

Micah peered over the back of the armchair, saw the creature’s intensely opaque gaze sweep across him, and immediately stood. His pale cheeks were flushed with a flustered crimson. Scrambling over the side of the armchair, he scooped Novus up into his arms and smiled awkwardly at the other.

“Sorry about that…” he said. “He’s just curious. Uhm, I hope he hasn’t…you know….scratched you or anything.” Novus peered up at him, indignant, and a plume of smoke curled around Micah’s head.

Tymah tilted his head when Micah scurried over to scoop up the little dragon, which seemed rather pleased with himself. "It's quite alright, there is no damage done."

He stood up to his comfortable height, which Micah could see wasn't his full height should he have chosen to stand fully. "You must forgive me, I did not expect to find anybody within this level of the Resource Center."
