Stupid in a Smart Sort of Way [OPEN]

He sat on a rock, his upper arms crossed behind his head as he leaned against a large boulder behind him. His lower arms held a pen and notepad, scribbling down things that he would have to remember later. The hot wind around him blew, shifting sand in great wisps. However, he felt none of it.

His first and only creation protected him from the elements as the world around him blistered and boiled. Why was he here? He was taking notes on the lava that proceeded to pour around his perching rock. How hot was it? How much flowed per minute? What metals and rocks were in it? All the things that he jotted down on the digital, fire-proof pad.

However, it was beginning to become rather gusty and he was beginning to be blown around by it. “Computer, open thorax portal and prepare to open inner capsule to foreign objects.” The suit beeped before the outer shell opened itself to the outside world. Placing the pad and pen into the portal, the four-armed man muttered “Close Thorax portal.” “Scanning foreign objects. Standby” said an electronic voice.

Two 3D objects appeared on the inbuilt screen. “Scan complete. T-71 2nd model digital notepad and FJ-19-40 digital pen.” A moment later and the object were admitted to the inner capsule. Tyr removed his lower arms from their ‘sleeves’ and took hold of the pad and pen. He then placed them into a small inner pocket that sat against his chest. With that done, he slipped his arms back into the sleeves, ready to leave.

Hell, the volcano could explode at any minute now and not everything on the suit was adapted to extreme heat. “Computer, prepare manual override for flight path 5-2-7.” A blue bar appeared on the screen. “Commencing manual override.” As the blue bar reached the end of the screen, the suit gave a rather nasty hiss. He said “Computer, full thrust on lower engines.” The engines hesitated for a moment before giving a mighty push away from the rock.

He was propelled into the sooty air. His arms flailed by his sides as he went higher into the lower atmosphere. “Computer, seal air filters and prepare for outer atmosphere travel.” A small buzzing sound started from the screen before an electronic voice replied “Air filters sealed. Prepared for outer atmosphere travel. Standing by.”

He zoomed through the outer atmosphere for a few moments before leaning forward. This caused him to drop at incredible speeds towards the surface of Mars. From a distance, it looked like a small star falling. Just as he was about to hit the surface, the wings snapped out, allowing him to glide along the ground before landing. He was a mile or two from the volcano now. The lava wouldn’t reach him for an hour or two.
