**Hey yall :v welcome to my tiny pet project (tiny. Hah.) This is more or less just for you guys to use as a reference tool if you want in your roleplays or for creating characters. Want a robot but don't have a reference to go off of? Want a character who works in technology but isn't suited to be a Pilot? Want an office big wig with lotsa mooooney? Then look no further! Imogen Innovations may be the brainthing you need to make brainchildren of your own. : D That sounded weird but whatever.

Basically, you can use the information I've spouted down below however you like to beef up your plots or characters. You do not need to ask my permission to make a character related to Imogen Innovations. Be it an employee, business affiliate, idol who promotes their products, or actual robot, go nuts with it and have fun. If ya got questions feel free to ask. If you wanna make a robot and want to use the images I [will have eventually] created below, go right ahead just as long as you credit me. Have fun kids and remember, Don't be evil.**

--- Basic History/Products/Cultural Influence ---

Yes, they're the company that distributes the infamous Moomba, the little robot that'll vacuum your house for you [or provide a badass ride to glory for your pets] [or at least, they are now, they bought the rights to the Moomba from the original owners several years ago], Personal Service Droids, the customizable and upgradeable droids that can raise your kids, clean your house, run your errands and even protect your family from threats, comm sets, and of course their biggest claim to fame: The Samariel Leviathans--or their HAWCs, anyways.

Their revenue comes from a fairly even split of: military budgeting, as they have some pretty tight deals with the Aedolian government in regards to the latest and greatest innovations in AI-- remote-controlled robots, high security computer operating systems, and the works; and consumer electronics, such as economic droids for the lower to upper, high-class castes (Moomba, various lines of non-robotic vacuum cleaners and household appliances, comm sets, robotic toys like RoboRex and the RoboFish, and the infamous Personal Service Droids with a variety of functions, AI complexities and customizable options).

You can get just about everything you need in modern day society from Imogen Innovations, and that's the way they like to keep it--because the more money that goes to them and not their competitors, the better! Because that money totally, definitely goes into making bigger, better projects and newer ideas for the future, and not into the pockets of the CEO and chairmen. (Nope, not at all.)

And yet they could certainly be doing worse things with their money--they've offered thousands of jobs to people who need them, and created a more technology-forward society driven by innovation and connection to one another through the dragon-provided internet. If you don't have the psionics to be a Pilot, or even in the military, then a job at Imogen Innovations or one of their flagship stores (with at least one in every Aedolian city, sometimes multiple for the big ones like Haviah) which you only need a basic education to work at may be the job for you. They pay well and there's promise for hard workers to move up within the company, as they prefer to promote internally rather than hire in new people with fancy degrees--mostly for the sake of keeping a happy public image, but hey it's something. Sort of. And of course, if you're any kind of tech-savvy, or fortunate enough to have parents who put you through college, then you can make even more money working for them as a programmer or developer!

The company definitely has its fair share of flaws though, sometimes falling under criticism for lack of innovation [oh, the irony] in newer models within product lines, alleged stolen intellectual property, and the works--most of which flies under the public's radar as it's discretely settled in court rooms too high up for the masses to even hear about, and if they did they probably wouldn't care because they're too busy showing their friends the newest comm they just got anyways with a 16 megapixel front and back camera from II, the coolest shit yo!

--- The Current Personal Service Droids ---

Arguably the company's biggest hurdle has been their Personal Service Droids, which teetered dangerously on the edge almost 20 years ago of being non-profitable, barely breaking even in revenue vs. cost of production. They've since trimmed down their lines extensively--most PSDs come in relatively simple, easy to digest formats: robots that are clearly robots, and not too close to human for the average person's comfort. They perform simple tasks such as taking out your trash, walking your dog, keeping an eye on your children, and all that good fun stuff, and have basic and amicable personalities that would make the average joe content with his purchase.

By far their most advanced work to date are ironically some of their most well-kept secrets--or are now, anyways. 17 years ago the DS line of PSDs was released to the public, or at least, those of the public with a few extra billion credits lying around in their pockets. These Service Droids were the most highly customizable robots the company had ever offered, with the most realistic AI systems built from the brain scans of actual human beings. They were criticized however for being too eerily realistic, learning and knowing too much for their own good, and becoming self aware. This line of droids was quickly pulled from the market and dumbed down a bit to be re-released under the current line of PSDs, the OX models.

[Cheesy insert a chart here of the current line of OX models yeeeeeee [include basic endoskeleton for each + their covering parts]]

OX1400-- [Simplest of tasks, robotic in movements and nature with several personality types to choose from, though like its siblings, customized personality types are available for download/installation by independent programmers online. Comes in white or black [past edition colors have included aqua, pink, red, and green] and has a flat facial surface with LEDs underneath that make emoji expressions.]

OX1800-- [Basic description of what it do here]

OX2000-- [Basic description of what it do here]

OX4000-- [Basic description of what it do here]

OX models 1400-2000 are most popular among the common folk due to their simplicity and affordability (a middle caste citizen may be able to purchase a 1400, and higher castes the 2000) as well as their sleek designs and options for part swapping. These three lines feature parts that are cross-compatible, and have been out with current tech support now for several years. Occasionally, they are re-released with special limited editions that come in unique colors or with extra, added features to entice the general public to purchase them more. This allows plenty of time for small-time business owners to create their own custom parts that you can purchase to add onto yours to make it cool and hip. Because let's be real, nobody buys a comm from the distributor and says 'that's it, this is mine and it's done and super cool now!' with it looking like it just came out of the box. You put cases on it, stickers, customize the preferences and utilities, change the ringtone--and the more custom it is, the neater you are, yeah?

But be warned--those who mess with the initial interfacing and coding too much can face serious consequences. "Jailbroken" robots are in direct violation of the end-user license agreement a customer signs when they purchase their droid, and as a result are not eligible for service maintenance or repairs from the manufacturer. If these droids are caught in public, their users are fined extensively if not sued. So if you're gonna jailbreak your droid, be smart about it, and maybe cover up some of those company logos while you're at it. Basically, don't walk into a flagship store and tell the whole world your droid is jailbroken and no one will be the wiser--or yknow, don't be a dumbass, sell it secondhand to someone and then get caught when that person goes to the DMV to get it registered and inspected and they find out that you reprogrammed it to hack and access highly secured government facilities or something. Because then you'll get sued and then you'll go to prison.

However, as the OX models are direct descendants from the DS line of coding, that means all four have the potential to become self aware with the right (illegal) poking and prodding... The general consensus is that as long as you're not waving your jailbroken droid around in peoples' faces like a dick, then no one actually cares what you do with it--your money spent, man. Break it however you want.

--- Past Personal Service Droids ---

These are PSDs that are considered to be outdated and are no longer offered official tech support from Imogen Innovations. There are multiple reasons for this, sometimes due to product recalls,
legal issues in designs and intellectual properties, or sometimes simply because they want to encourage consumers to continue to buy the latest and greatest thing. Whatever the case may be,
one may still find some of these robits floating around in Aedolis, though not all of them will probably be in the best shape. Or even in decent shape. Or even in one piece anymore.

DS1974-- The most expensive of the DS lines and the most rare to survive to this day due to how few were manufactured and how few weren't thrown into trash compactors because they were so unbelievably creepy. An example of [an extensively modified] one would be Phi.

DS1968-- [Description]

DS1950-- [Description]

DS1927-- [Description]

SP9800-- Also referred to as Imogen V Morrison, this was a singular droid which eventually became the frame of reference for the SP2003 model and DS line of PSDs. More info to be found here.

SP2003-- [Description]

MDK Model 101-- Inspired by the trashed construct of alien tech, the use of small variable cubes that can alter shape and density fused via it’s core to a robotic chassis. Although an expensive model (no doubt from the use of experimental technology), MDKs (Murder - Death - Killer) were programmed to be effective killers.  Coupled with advanced AIs, MDKs were designed with adaptive programming to understand varying degrees of combat situations from anything ranging from hand to hand to assassinations, etc. They possess Tactical Precision Arrays, room for weapons modifications, and anti-corrosive shielding on their plated armor. Physically, MDKs are heavy and designed to take a beating, with exceptional reflexes and elemental resistances, waterproof, shock resistant. An example of this model type is Proteus. [This model line and description created by Lion.]

--- Droids and People ---

For the most part, Aedolian citizens couldn't give a hoot or hollar about droids that aren't their own, unless if they're in the super nerdy robot groups on the web that practically devote their lives and hobbies to these things. But the general consensus is that it doesn't matter how smart or lifelike your droid is--it's still property, and is not legally considered a sentient being protected by law, and does not have any basic rights, though there are plenty of robot-sympathists out there who would argue otherwise, they tend to be in the minority.

When a user purchases their robot they sign as many contracts as they do to buy a car, and the robot is registered, under heavy lock and key deep down in their internal coding to that person.
It takes just as much effort to sell a robot to someone else secondhand, and requires the new owner taking the robot to government DMVs (ironically) to get it re-licensed and registered under their name. Some droids take this as a prime opportunity to try to escape to freedom, but only a rare few may actually make it without being caught and returned to their registered owner post-haste.

An unsurprising amount of smaller, independent businesses have sprang up over the years that piggyback on the success of II of course. Most of these businesses tend to revolve around repair and maintenance of droids, as well as customization aspects.
Artists can find themselves making rather big bucks by custom painting and detailing droids and their parts/pieces to owners' wishes, and plastic/glass/metal workers can create new customized parts and pieces for the droids as well. Want your droid to have a tail? II doesn't offer one but now through small business you can totally make that dream a reality!

*cough* And of course it would be a shame not to mention those who make their money on the more 18+ side of things, because the robot fetish is one that's been around as long as robots have been in the imagination of humanity, so of course there will be those who cater to it. These businesses can do everything from reprogramming droids (under the table) for more nefarious activities, and customizing them with parts not sold by II. Don't get us wrong now--II will offer all the most basic holes for you sick screwheads out there, but those are lame in comparison to the plethora of fantastical options provided by those with a more... Interesting imagination. Wink wink.
