{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}
Of Thanati lineage, Ryan possesses olive skin and long, straight black hair that reaches just below her shoulders. Her eyes are almond-shaped and obsidian black, such that it seems like she doesn’t have a pupil. She is slight and willowy, and looks like a strong breeze could knock her over, but there’s quite a bit of strength in her frame. She keeps a strict exercise regimen to keep her body toned and fit, and as she races motorcycles as both a hobby and as a “job”, she maintains a healthy weight. She keeps her hair loose most of the time unless she’s racing, and then it’s either in a tail or a tight bun. Her facial expressions rarely vary from slightly amused to completely stoic, thus earning her the nicknames she has, but she does know how to smile, and when she does, her exotic beauty makes itself known. She doesn’t wear makeup unless someone else applies it, and usually that’s only when she’s supposed to do interviews for racing or for photoshoots.
When racing, Ryan wears a padded and armored racing suit in red, black, and gold, and her helmet bears a stylized red and gold phoenix on the back, whose spread wings encircle the entire helmet until the feathers touch the very edges of the helmet’s visor. The suit is similar to her flightsuit, at least in construction, and keeps her protected from any scrapes she might get in the event she crashes. She might not burn, but she can still get cut, scraped, bruised, and broken.
When not racing or “off duty”, Ryan prefers to wear tight black jeans tucked into ankle boots, loose white t-shirts, and a black leather jacket worn to pure softness. When not in public, Ryan likes to relax in an over-sized soft sweatshirt and sweatpants. She walks barefoot in her own house, but wears sandals if she has to leave it, even if she’s just stepping outside onto the porch.
{PERSONALITY}
FIRECRACKER
Ryan keeps a tight hold on her emotions to the point it seems like she’s repressed, which is reflected in the fact that her expression never changes from neutral to more than slightly amused at any given time. But just because she seems like she’s made of ice doesn’t mean she is frozen to the core. She has an explosive temper and her tongue is sharp, and she won’t let anyone walk away with the last word. She doesn’t say anything that doesn’t need to be said, and she doesn’t say anything that isn’t true. She doesn’t soften the blows her words deliver with niceties. Not everyone will agree with what she says, least of all the person she’s sandblasting up one side and down the other, and she doesn’t care. Once her feelings are known and once her anger has been vented, she returns to being docile and quiet and emotionless, much like a firework that fades after its brilliant colors have exploded in the night sky. Like the fire she controls, the fire she creates, Ryan burns hot and long, and is slow to extinguish once ignited. And if she has a focus, naught but ash will be left behind when she’s finished.
SUGAR AND SPICE
Even though Ryan has an explosive temper, and even though she otherwise keeps her emotions tightly leashed unless provoked, Ryan doesn’t go out of her way to be intentionally mean to anyone. She will be the first to offer a helping hand if she thinks someone needs it, and she often spends her paychecks donating food, clothing, and other needs to local orphanages, halfway houses, lower-level hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other organizations that care for those less fortunate. If she has to use her celebrity, it’s usually to give young children a dream com true and make sure that they have heroes worth looking up to. But Ryan prefers staying to the shadows, to be a longer burning flame than one that burns bright but extinguishes quickly. She prefers to be known for her skills in racing motorcycles rather than her status as a Pilot. But that doesn’t mean she’s not a fighter, that she can’t, or won’t, defend herself. She is a skilled fighter, trained in a martial art that is designed to prevent her opponents from causing her harm.
Fun Facts:
- Practices the martial art Baguazhang, a style relying on quick movements, throws, punches, open-palm strikes, and circular stepping. She sometimes puts on demonstrations of the techniques of her style, using both weapons and generated flames.
- Absolutely adores cheesecake, and has been known to eat an entire tub of the ready-made cheesecake filling in one sitting. Maybe more than one.
- Has a small sand and rock garden that she tends to when she needs to meditate, and also arranges flowers in tradition keeping with her paternal lineage. It’s a skill she learned as a small child from her paternal grandmother.
- Has an aptitude for working on engines and other mechanical things. She works on her own bike in her own “workshop” and modifies it when she can.
{SPECIAL ABILITIES}
Telepathy - Ryan possesses strong telepathy, such that she can communicate at great distances and with multiple entities at once, though she’s never met another human she would enjoy talking to this way and only speaks with her dragon in this manner.
Pyrokinesis - Ryan is a powerful pyrokinetic, such that she can control flame with just a flicker of thought. No matter what kind of fire - whether natural or chemical - Ryan can control it, guide it, shape it, and use it. She can even freeze the flame in place, such that it looks like a crystallized version of itself, though the flames are still extremely hot to the touch and can burn the unwary
Pyrogenesis - Ryan can create her own flames from nothing by simply focusing on an object she wants to ignite and increasing the friction of molecules around said object. She can also convert her own body heat into living flames, which makes her skin cold to the touch for a minute or two, and for the air around her to become frigid.
Phoenix Rising - Ryan is absolutely immune to heat and fire of all sources. She cannot be burned by any kind of flame. She can still feel the heat of the flames, but her skin will not blister or burn if left in contact with flame for an extended period of time.
{RELATIONSHIPS}
Alita - Ryan’s dragon, her best friend, her confidant, and as far as she’s concerned her only family. Which is exactly what she thinks of Ryan, as well. They’ve been deep in each other’s minds and know what makes each other function. She is a ruby and gold colored dragon with mechanical forelegs, and she once had two curling horns that crowned her head. However, one has been sheared off. Or melted off.
Mother - Deceased now, but once a big part of Ryan’s life. She keeps a shrine to her mother in her living room, and burns incense to honor her.
Father - Currently still alive, and keeps in touch with his daughter regularly through video calls and emails. He runs a small business and provides Ryan with some of the parts for her bike.
{BACKGROUND NOTES}
Born into a large family that hails from Ryun, Ryan spent most of her childhood learning many things from her paternal grandmother, mother, and father. She was fourteen when her powers were discovered and she was drafted immediately. A fire started in her father’s shop while she was playing in there with an engine she was building, and quickly trapped her inside. Everything burned to the ground. Everything, that is, except Ryan. She was left untouched, as if the fire had simply ignored her. Her experience in the ATC and learning to control her powers left her seemingly emotionally stunted and cold and aloof towards strangers and other people, as her emotions seem to be tied into the intensity of her powers. She gravitated toward being an operative on her own, and in her free time races, fixes, builds, and otherwise works on various motorcycles. She also puts in special appearances and does various meet-and-greets for fans.
