{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}

Faustine is on the taller edge of height for a typical Edani female, and is proportionately slight and willowy. But she is far from fragile, her slight frame belying the strength that she has. Her skin is pale, almost deathly so, and the only give-away as to what she is. She also possesses silver-grey eyes that are framed by locks of pale strawberry blond hair that have escaped the braid that falls to the center of her shoulders. She has an almost natural beauty that causes any eye to be drawn to her, and that beauty seems almost ethereal now because of her vampiric nature.

Faustine wears functional clothing for a variety of uses. Most of her outfit consists of a long-sleeved shirt, over which she wears a vest, and a knee-length skirt with tight leggings. She also wears gun-belt around the waist and a tasseled scarf around her neck that she can pull up over her face, leaving only her eyes visible. She wears thick-soled leather boots that buckle rather than tie with laces, and a wide-brimmed hat with long strings to tie it under her chin. Supple, tight gloves complete the ensemble. Her entire outfit is black or brown earthen tones, and the only bit of color to be found on her are the silver beads decorating her gun-belt or the turquoise beads decorating her hat. Very rarely is there any skin showing, and if there is, she usually tries to keep it in the shade.

Beyond her rifle, two revolver handguns, and an array of knives, Faustine also carries a black, lacy parasol, the handle of which can twist off and become a stiletto. But that’s something she only uses in very dire situations.

{PERSONALITY}

Faustine at first glance seems to be the epitome of “ladies shall be seen and not heard”. She is soft-spoken and reserved in her gestures and movements, much like lady of good breeding would be. This act has served her well over the long years, but that’s all it is, and it’s an act she wants to get away from. Faustine hates what her master forced her to become, which is nothing like how she used to be. The human Faustine was a bright, adventurous young woman with an eye on making something of herself. She would laugh readily, speak her mind, and not care if anyone took offense to it or not. She can’t seem to get any of that back, except for the fact that she does speak her mind, and she adheres to a more ’stab or shoot first, ask questions later’ sort of lifestyle than before. Of course, she can’t deny that her master taught her a few tricks, and anyone who wants to get overly familiar with the pretty girl is someone Faustine wouldn’t mind having a chat with. Or making a meal out of.

MASKED CRUSADER

Faustine hates what she is, but there’s no denying that part of her now. She’s a vampire, and unless she really wants to die (which she doesn’t) she’s going to have to make the best of it. But that doesn’t stop her from feeling guilty about all the lives she helped take, or took herself, and so she tries to make up for it by helping people in need. She doesn’t reveal her presence to those she’s helping, but enough people have seen her to have given her the nickname ‘The Pale Lady’. She doesn’t typically go looking for trouble, but if she’s in the area and sees something happening, she’ll step in to protect people from being hurt. Most of the time, she’ll be in the background, unseen, but she’s no pushover when it comes to close combat. She has a few tricks up her sleeves, after all.

Fun Facts:
- Due to obvious reasons, Faustine travels only after the sun goes down, and if stuck in a town, she’ll stay indoors if she can. But, if the need is dire, she will cover up as best she can, and travel during the day
- She absolutely cannot stand being perceived or treated as the damsel in distress
- She has a weakness for silver and turquoise, but she rarely wears jewelry
- Her abilities with her guns came from the careful and patient teaching of Jericho

{SPECIAL ABILITIES}

Vampiric strength - When fully fed, Faustine has only a little more physical strength than an average human her size and weight. She won’t be lifting a full-grown man by the throat with one hand. But when she’s hungry and starving, she becomes a machine of instinct, and she can take down someone twice her weight and size.

Vampiric speed - Much like her strength, Faustine is no faster than an average human. But, much like her strength, if she’s hungry, she can move quite swiftly in order to incapacitate her chosen prey so she can feed.

Vampiric senses - Faustine has heightened hearing, smell, and sight due to her vampiric nature.

Regeneration - Faustine can recover from any injury, even if it is normally life threatening. Small wounds, like a cut, heal in a matter of minutes, but a lost limb will take days or weeks, depending on the severity of the wound. Unless, of course, it’s been cauterized.

Faustine is also quite allergic to sunlight, such that she covers up most of her skin so that it doesn’t burn. Any exposure to direct sunlight will cause her to instantly combust. She can survive such an event if she gets out of the sunlight quickly enough. Also, the removal of her head will kill her, as will anything that could destroy her body entirely. Therefore, she tends to avoid explosives and fire.

{RELATIONSHIPS}

The Master - The vampire that turned her. He hunted her because he was infatuated by Faustine’s beauty. He wanted her as a companion for both himself and for his other thrall, and once he turned her, that was exactly what she was. He also used her as a lure to bring in food, capitalizing on Faustine’s looks. He was finally destroyed, thus freeing her.

Jericho Rivera - Faustine’s companion thrall, turned some time before her, and freed along with her when their master was finally destroyed. She views him as her only family, her only friend, and her partner in this strange life they share, and though she wanders away from him from time to time, she always comes back to him.

{BACKGROUND NOTES}

Faustine grew up as a normal Edani girl would, looking out toward her future with a bright smile. Unfortunately, her dreams were destroyed before they ever had a chance to be realized. Stalked for her beauty and what it could achieve for him, her vampire master eventually caught and turned her. She was made to be his companion and the companion of his first thrall, Jericho, and she was forced to be a lure to bring in their food without them having to actually hunt for it. Faustine hated every aspect of this, but she was forced to comply. The only saving grace to her life as it had become was Jericho, her older “brother” and companion. Early on, he was her protector, her confidante, and she could confide in him her feelings behind their master’s back. He became her only light in her new dark world. When at last they were freed from their master’s control, Faustine left Jericho to explore the world on her own, trying to find the pieces of her that had been lost. Eventually, though, she found her way back to him. In fact, each time they separate, she always seems to find her way back to him.
