A New Light (ARAD V1.0)

Zan Talfos ran toward his apartment, carrying a small, glowing cube in his hand. He had found it outside the city while taking a walk to relieve some stress. 'Could this be...' Zan had the idea that this object could be somehow related to the incident from his past. He didn't have any real proof, just a hunch. He tried to hide it best as he could. He didn't want it confiscated by the government. When he reached his street he started sprinting as fast as he could, heading toward his apartment. He struggled to see in the moonlight. Just as he reached the door, he was ambushed by a band of hooded thieves. He was completely surrounded. The thieves were pointing long knives at him. He had nowhere to run. One of the thieves approached him. "Listen closely. Not one of us is gonna hurt you if you give us that little gizmo you've got there." Zan spoke up. "What do you want with it?" The thief chuckled. "Well, it's got to be valuable, don't you think?" He smiled under his hood. "Now hand it over." Zan refused. The thief scowled. "Fine then. You've given us no choice." The thieves surrounding Zan all lunged at him. Zan dodged there swipes at him, then punched one of them in the face. He took his left hand and blasted half of the group. More came out of nowhere. There were too many. Zan could do nothing.

A low snarl left Arad. Demons. Attackers. His corrupt and incomplete submission programming caused him to hallucinate. An empty barren wasteland. The city he grew up in in flames. Set ablaze by these demonic invaders. His family. Dead. All because of these demons. Black snow slowly descended on the wasteland as he stood before a group of demons.

With another low and warning snarl, Arad dissappeared from sight. The laser-edged weaponry sliding from his arms. And within an instant, all of the thieves had succumbed to their wounds. Various slashes, dismemberments, decapitations, disembowlings, the combat droid didn't show mercy. His blade sliced forward for Zan's head. Yet stopped an inch befote him as Arad regained his mind once more. Convienient.

Zan staggered back as the robot nearly sliced off his face. He was getting ready to fire another blast, when he saw that the robot had stopped it's frenzy. Zan approached it with curiosity. He had never seen such things back on Xxealia. He stared into it's dark, blank face, then spoke. "Can-can you speak? Can you here me?"

A low snarl left Arad as he lowered his arm. Turning around without even answering the man. "Run." Was what his mechanical and deep voice stated as the sound of sirenes blared. Really outstaying his welcome on Haviah.

If he wasn't careful, he'd be sold to TRIM. And that'd be end off.

Zan did as the strange creature said. He ran down the street until he was clear out of the city. He looked back and sighed. Still clutching the cube, Zan paced back and forth. He sat down on a stone and eyed it carefully. He waved his hand in front of it, and he heard a clicking noise. The cube suddenly became brighter, glowing a strong neon pinkish color. It lifted itself out of his hands and floated in the air, spinning in place. Zan backed away and stared at the marvel. He watched as it separated into two parts, creating a hologram of a map in between them. The map showed an image of a star system, with a medium sized planet and its moon. In the corner of the hologram was a set of coordinates. Zan couldn't believe his eyes. Was that where the invaders had come from? Or was it just some random planet?
