__________________QUICK STATS
Name Devroku Ii'a Cosadey Masaden, 'Devie'
Age 193 (about 25-ish?)
Gender Male, usually
Species Elf
Ethnicity N/A
[If applicable. Is the character Aedolian, Edani, Teinari, etc?]
Height 5"5
Occupation Highwayman
Residence His ship, the Dawning. She's not the most classifiable of ships; she's big enough for twelve or so, well made, sleek, fast, and has a moderately sized cargo bay. She's fully fitted with light weaponry, sensors and a cloaking device, but she was clearly bought basic and then outfitted as he went along.

Physical Description Despite being quite short, Devie's built like an ox at the chest and shoulders. Otherwise he's quite compact, with long legs (for running) and long arms (for stealing). He's oddly broad-hipped for a man, but not as much as most women. Add that to his waist, which looks especially slim next to his upper torso, and he looks strangely curvy. He's packed with muscle all over, heavy muscle, not lean, but he likes to wear dark clothing specially tailored to make him look slim. He has incredibly spiky platinum blond hair, and pale blue eyes that can only be described as 'sparkly'. Devie has wide lips, his nose is very defined, and his eyes are large. He has a masculine jaw, but the overall structure of his face is on the feminine side. His eyebrows are nice, but bold, and clearly plucked regularly (although he actually changes them through shape-shifting... It looks like he plucks them), and he permanently looks slightly manic. His eyelashes are freakishly long, but they're so pale that no-one can tell anyway. He has quite pale skin, and though his toe nails are well-kept, his fingernails are bitten.

Personality He's the kind of person who's determined, capable, and an unequivocal loser. His success stories are few, but he loves his life, and wouldn't swap it for anything. He rarely achieves his goals, but he always gets something interesting - even if it's a memory that wakes him up in a cold sweat. He's not so much naive, as he is hopeful. He likes to try things, and if something goes wrong, ah well, he'll sort it out somehow. He's a horrible procrastinator when it comes to actually doing things, but chores and useless 'maintenance' are always completed, frequently far more often than necessary. He gets a thrill from danger, but doesn't tend to seek it out - he's got enough terrifying memories already. Not that he minds. He likes his life to be interesting. He has a mild tendency towards bad luck; if there's a self-destruct button, he'll sit on it. He also has no respect for anything. He'll respect people; avoiding sensitive topics as much as he can (frequently he forgets), trying not to get in people's personal space (he doesn't really understand the concept, so his attempts can be quite comical)... Conventions, laws, nations, etcetera, he couldn't care less about. He's friendly, and although he'd deny it, he's rather lonely. He needs to socialise, and when he's alone for a long time, he can get a little crazy... He has a tendency to make imaginary friends. Devie never chose to become a 'highwayman', it just happened.

Magic/Abilities Devie's a shapeshifter! He can change almost everything about himself, although he can only shift to something non-humanoid with the use of a power source, and can only turn into sentient organic matter. The one thing about himself he can't change is the length of his eyelashes, and he has difficulty ridding himself of the slant of his mouth and the curve of his eyes that make him look so manic. Otherwise, he's strong, a fast runner, quite good at hand to hand, knows a few magic tricks, and has very good aim. He's quite good at cleaning, ship maintenance, finding food, and looking good. He can't navigate to save his life... He's really good with technology, but lacks focus, so his occasional creations lack finesse. He's good at the waylaying, 'defeating' and boarding part of his job, but then it tends to go wrong...

Relationships The mop, Chester, his ship, Dawning, and a man named Iravaracuru, who is some kind of awesome demi-god who is awesome. Also, the cook, who is a humanoid dragonfly, and is in love with Chester. Devie hates her. Naturally, none of these are real people... Although, with a demi-god, who really knows?

History Devie was born, many years ago, in a small colony of elves. His mother wasn't married, and he never knew his father, but no-one minded particularly because she was heavily involved in running the colony. He never saw her much, so he made up imaginary friends, making them electronic representations of them when he could. When he was sent to school, he learned quickly but made no friends due to his general craziness. At the age of 80 (14-ish), he was kidnapped by pirates who wanted to ransom him, but his mother refused to pay up. He was sold to slavers, then on to a fighting ring, where he was taught how to fight and learnt how to shape-shift. He escaped by draining the energy 'walls' of his cell, and shifting into a small lizard, then crawling swiftly out of there.

With no other prospects, he decided to stow away on a ship, noticing that it carried a very wealthy passenger. He stole from her, but was caught, and in the resulting chase and scuffle, they blew up the ship. This sets the tone for his whole life since then, although he's gained a ship, a bunch of weird artifacts, and briefly a couple of companions, so he's not doing too badly. Currently, he lives alone, and he may have just a few people after his head... He didn't take up 'highway' robbery until he got his ship, and generally sticks to "Your valuables or your reputation.", as he finds that threatening people's lives seems to make the danger he gets into later worse. The reputation part is the shame of being beaten by his little ship and him.
