Does appearences even matter? (Nomad)
« on: December 12, 2013, 10:49:54 pm »
The streets of Haviah were busy. As always. How could they not be? So many people milling the streets, gangs perhaps wandering around in the dark alley ways, and last but not least? People getting in trouble.

Tara Snow was not really one to fit in at all during this time of day, carrying a single backpack on her back, while transgressing these dark alleyways which were rumored to be so dangerous? Not a chance. Shorter, with no strength in the slightest, a recipe for disaster. However, this certain someone was after something.

Striding as if  she had a place to get to quickly, she passes through the openings which lead into the city, only to take a shortcut into another alleyway, seeming to be muttering something to herself the entire day. Ducking beneath a gate swinging shut as a shuttle was to pass, only to run to the other side before it came. Bumping into someone, merely muttering a quiet apology before continuing on her way.

Finally reaching her destination, a street which was a little quieter, however the large box which connected the city's buildings and wires were what she was after. Leaning nonchalantly against the fence, she slowly pulls out two small spheres, circling them in her hands quietly, eying the people who were passing by, awaiting a chance. The moment she sees a gap in the crowd, she rolls the two spheres into the group of people, covering her ears as an extremely high pitched sound rings out with the crowd.

Feeling thankful for the earplugs which saved her eardrums, she produces a second capsule, tossing it in as well, bathing the area in smoke. Seeing that this is her chance, she reaches into a second pocket to produce a laptop, as well as a long wire. Hopping over the fence with her equipment, she wrenches open the door on the box, finding what she was looking for, and clips a metal clamp over one, allowing what she had setup begin to do its work.

Standing up, crossing her arms, eying the crowd who was reeling around, trying to figure out what was going on, making sure none of them did something.. stupid if any of them were smart enough to realize it was her who started all of this.

He had been standing in thought when out of the blue someone bumped into him, causing Drifter to turn his gaze to the woman as she mutters an apology for bumping into him as she continues on her way not giving him time to speak. For a moment he stood and watched her as she walked off. It seemed as if she was in a hurry, perhaps she had some important business to take care of. Though he thought on it for a moment as he looked in the direction the woman had went he knew that it was non of his business. Shaking his head faintly he turns his attention back to what he had been doing, going over a small list of things he still needed to acquire.

Looking at his list he slowly skims over what he had checked off as he thought on what he still needed to acquire. While going over the list he has a strange burst of noise catches his attention. Lifting his gaze from the list he looks in the direction of the noise, which happened to be the same direction the woman had went after bumping into him. Looking in the direction of the noise his curiosity got the better of him as he wondered if something had happened. Putting the list away he begins to move, heading in the direction the woman had went.

As he draws closer he notices the smoke which only made him wonder more about what was going in. Smoke could mean fire, however their was no screaming or yelling, instead it was oddly silent. Making his way into the area where the sound had come from the first thing he notices are the people that seem to be recovering from something though it did not seem as if anyone was hurt. Scanning the crowed he did not see the woman from before but he knew she went this way. As he shifts his gaze he notices the woman from before, though she stands behind a fence and seems to be unaffected by whatever happened, which seemed a bit odd to say the least.

The woman glances down at her computer which showed a progress bar at 60%, turning her gaze up to the man who was looking directly at her.

Cocking her head to the side slightly, she merely pierces him with a gaze silently, as if almost daring him to do something, not exactly feeling in the mood to put up with anything at the current moment. She was so close to getting what she came for. The government has kept these areas on lock-down internally, although this security patch left her with a small window of time.

Lifting her head slightly, crossing her arms. "You want something? If not, i'd suggest you continue walking. Nothing to see here after all. Just.. be a good guy and don't call anyone now, hm? That'd be a huge favor for myself." Seeming to be taking in his figure, analyzing who he was.

Reaching up, removing the earplugs she was wearing, rubbing her ears gently to relieve the buildup of pressure.

Looking at the woman he makes eye contact with her as she looks to him. She seemed to be doing something beyond the fence but he was not sure what it was. Seeing as how she was standing perfectly fine and everyone else was still recovering, he came to the conclusion that she had done something he just was not sure what she had done or for what reasons. As she spoke he began to take a few steps towards her as he watches her closely. He was not sure if she was willing to fight and though he did not want to he was willing to defend himself if needed.

As she began to speak he paused for a moment as he listens to her speak to him. Listening to her he furrowed his brow in a frown in response to what she was saying. Her words seeming to confirm that she had something to do with what happened here, if not the cause of it. Turning his gaze from her he looks to the crowed for a moment. It seemed she had done nothing that caused any real harm to them. Turning his gaze back towards her he takes note of the sign on the fence that prohibited people from going beyond the fence with she had done for some reason beyond him at the moment.

" What are you doing? " He inquires as he looks at her, seeking to know why she was on the other side of the fence though it was still non of his business.

Slowly sliding down to the gravel below, reaching into her backpack, plugging something else into the laptop while sliding it on her lap, making a waving motion with her hand towards the man who was questioning her. "Run along now, I only have a few minutes before the police show up."

Either being quite stupid, overconfident, or.. who knows for blurting it out straight there, the woman still remains a little hard to read physically. She doesn't seem to mind him being there, almost as if she's sure he won't make a move to stop her, becoming engrossed in her work.

"You'd be surprised how much you can find out about the darkness in this city, and how much the government doesn't do to protect them. Of course they are not all 'that' useless, they are useful now and then. Thats the government for you though." Mumbling quietly to herself, the quiet tapping on the keyboard.

The people who were smoked and stunned begin to come to, quickly glancing around, starting to turn into a panic-zone as they try to figure out what happened. Only a few spot the woman behind the fence, but are quickly overrun by the others as they begin to panic, clueless still upon who did this, threatening to turn into a stampede of people.

"Ah.. I thought it would last longer.." Mumbling something quietly, rummaging around in her backpack for something else.

As she told him to run along he thought about it for a moment. It did sound like a good idea as this was really non of his business. Though he could not help but wonder what she was doing here behind the fence with all these people having been stunned by what he could only determine was some sort of sound device. Once she begins to speak he listens to her, though he is not all to sure what she is speaking of. She spoke of the government so he figured perhaps she spoke about the government on this planet.

As the people recover he turns his gaze back to them as things with them seem to be taking a turn for the worse as they begin to panic, which was not a good thing in the least. Looking at the group of people he wondered if he should try and do something about there panic. However he had no clue what he could do to try and calm them nor was he sure if it would help any if he did try and offer aid. He thought perhaps leaving them be and making himself scares may be the best bet in the situation so he would not be drug into the crowed and possibly injured.

She produces a simple memory-drive, and promptly slips it into the laptops port, allowing a process to quickly run, merely to unplug it again, beginning to take everything down. Quickly beginning to stow everything back in the backpack, only to turn and grab the fence to climb it over again.

Glancing both ways as she vaults over it again, she turns her gaze on the man who was speaking to her earlier, rubbing her head for a second. "Ah, what the hell. Better be safe rather than sorry." With a small smirk, she proceeds to walk over to him and link one of her arms around his. "Comeon then, we're a couple now. Temporarily. Less suspectable, you know?"

Not really seeming to listen for an answer before she begins walking, half dragging him behind her. No sense of morality, or just doesn't care perhaps. Who knows. Who he was? No matter.

Having seemed to finish what she had come here for she came back over to the fence before moving towards him. As she came close he thought perhaps she was going to attempt and subdue him or perhaps attack him to try and render him unconscious or worse. However that did not seem like the case as she linked there arms before she began to speak. The manner in which she had linked their arms was that one would see a couple doing and he was not affiliated with her in such a manner. Narrowing his gaze as she speaks to him it seemed she wanted to appear as a couple if only momentarily.

Though she wanted to appear as a couple it was not something he wished to do though it did not seem like he had much of a choice as he begins to stumble after her as she starts to move, dragging him along with her. " What do you think you are doing? " He inquires as he moves along with her feeling he had no other option at the moment since it got him away from the scene and he did not wish to be there when the authorities showed up to see what was going on.

What am I doing? Well, it would be a waste to get caught after all of that. I don't think they will appreciate it too much, they being the fuzz of course. Fuzz.. Thats actually kinda funny, the slang term for them." Continuing her stride, eyeing the crowd carefully as she walks, trying to blend in slightly, thankfully the man she's holding in tow seems to have a desired effect.

"While we're in a situation like this, why don't you tell me your name, hm? May as well seeing we have a few blocks to go. May start some idle conversation, hmm?"

Smirking slightly, although from his angle, he may not be able to tell she was doing such.

As she begins to answer him he looks to her for a moment before he turns his gaze from her, shifting his gaze as he listens to her speak. Listening to her he finds that like him, she did not wish to get caught by the authorities though she had a different word for them. For the time being he kept his arm with hers, moving up to follow along at her side instead of trailing somewhat behind as if she were dragging him along.

Hearing her speak he glances to her again before turning his gaze ahead of them as she asks his name, seeming to want to start some form of idle conversation with him. Having no problem with some small talk since it seemed they would be like this for a little while longer, he speaks up " I'm Drifter, and you are? " He inquire, again glancing to her for a brief moment.

Pleased that he is actually talking to her, and not trying anything stupid such as trying to run, or draw attention. An interesting man. Glancing around the city to get her bearings, she begins walking in a direction a little different than where they were going to begin with.

"Tara. Tara Snow. Well met I suppose. Drifter, eh? Thats an interesting name, not too.." Pausing, thinking for a moment, letting her voice trail off, not finishing her thought.

"Well, what do you say 'Drifter'? I suppose I owe you something for getting me out of there, unwillingly or not, same thing really. What can I get for you, hmm? Just don't ask something stupid, or i'll hit you. Or something along those lines. Not that I can hit too hard."
Her sentence easily flowing into the next, showing no form of verbal restraint.
