Physical Description:

Deu is generally regarded as the small, mousy type.  He always looks neat, but in a vague, befuddled sort of way, as though he's just been steam-cleaned somewhere very pleasant and is now quite happy; a bit damp and confused; and neatly pressed anyway, despite the unorthodox method.  He has an intuitive kind of neatness, even though his hair can sometimes spring up in unruly curls.  Even when he wears torn or stained clothes, he has some way of making them appear (perhaps only to himself) as though it's okay.

He's thin, neither muscular nor skinny, and has small hands with very delicate fingertips.  Sometimes he's embarrassed by them (he keeps his nails cut very short), but as Aldouvan can attest, small hands don't mean... anyway.

He often wears small, gold-wire-framed glasses.  The technology is completely outdated, but then, what lower-middle-caste citizen can afford the surgeries to correct astigmatism?  Besides, maybe they're not ordinary glasses.  In any case, he spends so much time in front of a screen it's not much wonder his vision's gone a bit.  And, of course, he thinks he looks good in glasses.  He sometimes cultivates a smidgen of a goatee or soul patch, which he thinks offsets his round cheeks and calm, slow-blinking eyes.  He dresses well and usually rather formally.  He likes suit jackets (with t-shirts underneath if he's being whimsical), ties, and pressed slacks.  He is very fond of pajamas.

Personality:

Deu's a nice guy.  At first glance he's a little bookish and stuffy.  At second glance, he's bookish, stuffy, and a collector of oddly-colored electrical components.  Do not ask him about last year's mistake in five-Ohm resistors (a magenta stripe instead of a fuchsia!  It was shameful).  He's a bit of a homebody, though he's not against a night out every once in awhile.  Because he's so calm and hard to ruffle, he likes seeking out the company of more flamboyant sorts of people occasionally.  They amuse him.  Most people don't realize that behind his totally benign, slightly turtleish façade, he's quite a decent judge of character, and can analyze most social situations with surprising accuracy.  He's only had a few romantic relationships, and almost always takes on the caring, more mature rule.

Weaknesses:  He can be a little too forgiving, occasionally blinded to people's faults by his general faith that he can help them to become happier.  And he's sometimes a bit spineless (though at other times he'll surprise you).  For instance, he's not always happy about Aldouvan's extraterrestrial philandering.
