Remnants of the Earth

Unintentionally a nervous whine echoed from within Nishi's throat. She could not bring herself to look him in the eye. Truthfully she could not look up from his feet. "Pilot Royal Reynard um," Nishi paused to lick her lips and tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "My name is um I mean I'm Pilot Cardinal Tokala and I um that is um...I'm your wife!"

She flinched as it suddenly came bursting forth from her mouth. That was not at all how she had meant for this to go. Thank goodness Draconem was not around to mock her. "I mean...I'm supposed to be your wife...I...sorry," the Kitsuni whimpered, fighting back tears of frustration. "Can I come in, sir?"

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description

Nishi is Kitsuni meaning that while humanoid and born on Aedolis as a native citizen she has features that are not entirely human. Atop her head are a pair of fluffy, white, fox ears. As a female of her species she also has only one long and equally fluffy, white, prehensile tail. Her facial features are long and narrow and her silver eyes are slightly almond shaped. She is very pale, giving her an almost icy blue appearance. Even her lips look a bit blue-purple in the right light. She keeps her pure white hair cut short in a curly, shaggy pixie cut.

Her body while small and compact is stronger than it belies. In her Candidacy she bested many of her classmates simply because they underestimated her. What she was truly built for though is running and stealth. She loves to run and often does so in her free time for hours at a time. She is fairly lithe and while she does have some curve to her hips she's somewhat flat-chested.


Personality

She is a rather quiet individual, much preferring to keep to herself than socialize in rec rooms or parties. Before the Pilot training she was a child of laughter and smiles. Now though she is far more reserved and socially awkward when not working in a team situation.

Magic/Abilities

Telepathy: Nishi always was a strong telepath growing up. She learned it long before she could learn to speak and often refused to speak unless telepathically. While common for her people hers is a bit stronger than the rest as she is able to project herself further or more clearly than others. Her parents often speculated it was due to her instance on refusing vocal communication.

Cryokinesis*: In their very small community, there are two variety of foxes – fire and ice. Aside from telepathy there are only two possible psionics to appear in their population. Nishi happens to be of the smaller ice side of the spectrum. Her ability in Cryokinesis also developed very young. At first simply in that her body has always been cool to the touch and her breath frosts – traits that carry on to this very day as ice is a core part of her and cannot simply be turned off.

She is not the strongest of her kind in this respect though and struggled in training with fine-tuning her gift into an acceptable weapon for becoming a Pilot. Using her abilities especially in large displays is very draining on her system as she puts too much of herself into the creation and manipulation of the cryokinesis. She still has much to learn about her abilities despite becoming a Pilot.

Draconem: Nishi's male dragon. He's very protective and affectionate towards Nishi but comes off as incredibly snarky, sarcastic, and even at times cruel. He often enjoys inserting himself into Nishi's thoughts and conversations. Draconem feels it is his personal duty to ensure that Nishi's every waking moment is filled with the sound of his glorious opinion. He's a medium-sized all black, sleek dragon.

History

Nishi is very young even for her kind. She was born in Aurora, where the Kitsuni have an almost mafia-esque community in the far flung city. Non-human and preferring to police themselves, they avoid Aedolian law enforcement and Pilots as much as they can, working internally within the community to maintain their culture and species without human or dragon interference. Of course they know they’re constantly being monitored, but they make a good effort to keep their family as private as Aedolian society allows.*

She was raised in the tight-knit community where everyone was family. Nishi found it smothering especially as a rare female that everyone talked about marrying off the the best male Kitsuni. Her family wanted to do their best to keep her from the military's notice but Nishi happily allowed herself to be "recruited" on her 13th birthday.

Training was nothing like she expected but she always kept the thought that completing it would get her as far from home as she could possibly get. It was all she ever wanted. At 19 she finally graduated. She took her week of vacation to visit her family in Aurora where her mother promptly informed her she was arranged to marry Pilot Royal Neeko Reynard who was "conveniently" stationed in Solarta, right where Nishi was headed. Nishi had no doubts about the convenience but headed there all the same to show up on his doorstep with news that would hardly make either of them happy.
