The Cancer / Re: Perlious Cargo of a Mercurial Nature (Rhi!) (M)

Jericho was still trembling all around him, still riding that wave of pleasure and enjoying the intensity of his own release when...

...Really?

Panting heavily and clinging tightly to him despite the heaviness of her limbs, she managed to lift her head and stare down at him, her cheeks flushed and skin shining with sweat. "Again?" she repeated, incredulous. Most guys she'd been with were one and done, shooting their load and then becoming pretty much useless. Which was fine for her, if she got off first, because after that she was ready to leave too. The worst was when they fell asleep on top of her. Assholes.

Blinking in surprise, she gave her hips an experimental wiggle, shuddering at the sensation as her breath hitched, and then looked back at him. "Didn't ya just...wasn't that...? You didn't come?"

It had sure felt like it! But sometimes it could be hard to tell. Damn, the guy really was pent up!

"The Lower Level, huh? That where you're from?" Dakota asked, eyebrows raised. "Wow, I never would have guessed! You don't look--oh, er, I'm sorry, I don't mean to stereotype. I just mean Lower Level people have to be pretty tough to get by, I hear, so you must be tougher than  you look! Not that you don't look tough, of course.

"Me, I'm a Middle Level person. Not that any of that matters here, mind you. Here, class doesn't matter. It's all about merit. Mostly."

In theory. In practice, candidates were well known to haze each other if they knew what Level they were from. It took a long time for them to lose their old prejudices--and some never lost them completely, and carried them into Pilot-hood.

Get down she did.

Or rather, she was thrown down.

Her horse let out a whinny of panic and reared, and Bailey was so struck by the horror of it all that she didn't have the time or sense to hold on until it was too late. With a startled cry, she tumbled from the saddle as the horse bolted and had one brief, panicked thought of, Oh please don't let my foot get caught in the stirrups.

It didn't, and she landed with a thud on her back, gasping in shock and pain--and then horror when she realized just how bloody close she was to that monster.

It would be Yazuri's luck as a fire mage that she would manage to set everything on fire even when she couldn't actually access her ability, currently!

Well, maybe not everything was on fire.

But her stove sure was.

Yazuri stared in horror at her flaming stove, which was on fire because she wanted to boil water, and she decided to run to the other room to quickly throw some clothes in the dryer. Except it didn't work that way, because apparently there was some old stuff under the burner or something, or a spark had flown out and caught the pot holder she'd left behind, and now there was fire everywhere and her fire alarm was screeching and she tried to put it out but apparently made it worse because now it was smoking something awful! Coughing something fierce, and panicking because yes, ha ha ha, she was a fire mage who didn't know how to naturally put out a fire and had cruddy control even with magic, she rushed out of her apartment to get some air and yanked her cell phone out.

(Why hadn't she thought to do that earlier?!)

...Oh. Maybe because she'd forgotten to charge it.

"Nooo!" she moaned as smoke poured out her window after her, her heart racing and palms sweaty because she was going to burn down her house!

She was the worst fire mage ever.

Cautiously, Jewel balanced the pot in one hand and touched one of the fern's soft leaves. Still nothing. It only moved because she had moved it.

Huh...

"It'll definitely brighten up the place. Space is cool and all, but man is it...sterile," she said as she looked around the place. "Techy. I guess you can't really get too hippy dippy out here. Anyway, if nothing else, they'll add some extra oxygen to the air, yeah?"

...Oh great. So she was going from a Rividean to some sort of dinosaur monster? From one sharp-toothed lizard to another, FANTASTIC.

Not feeling very reassured, especially since her species didn't look so different from a human, Sitara gave an uneasy look over at what she assumed was the creature's slave. Since the beast was the only other thing in the room with her and all. This was so weird, using some odd creature like a telephone, basically!

"Uhhhh...so...I'm done?  And I have a shitton of questions for your master person so I hope he's ready," she said, as she turned and marched for one of the taps and drank straight from it. She'd trust his word that they were fine; she supposed if they were contaminated, it might not be such a bad thing, since she might just get eaten by that dragon-dinosaur-not-a-Rividean anyway!

Taking the pot gingerly between her palms, Jewel stared down at it--and couldn't help but smile, just the smallest amount. It was pretty. And she did like plants. And...

And so far it wasn't growing to mammoth proportions and trying to eat her.

She gave Jesse a cautious look. "Is it okay if I put it in my room?"

Sarah wasn't the only one that was uneasy by the obvious bypassing of ship defenses. The mug looked fucking awesome, but Ari found himself staring at it like it was a viper when it poofed into existence right next to him, which had him nearly knocking it over in alarm. He stared at it, then picked it up and sniffed it, then took a careful sip against--perhaps--his better judgment.

It tasted like magic, but man.

What the hell??

...Whatever. He wanted his goddamned ribs.

"We'll get our orders, then reboot," Ari told Sarah, noting her agitation. "If he tries anything, pssssh. He's a fuckin' food truck. Uh. Ship. Food ship? We can blast 'im. But I want my ribs first. It's been fuckin' weeks since I've had real food. As for the AI...I leave that to ya, dollface."

He gave her a wink, knowing good and well she hated that, and then looked over at Riot with a raised eyebrow.

"Hotdog, eh? Ain'tcha had enough sausage lately?"

"Watch me go and prove us all wrong and wreck EVERYTHING," Jewel muttered as she eyed the fern like a viper. But despite her apprehension, she couldn't deny that she felt drawn to it, the same way she felt toward earthy things in general. She'd always had an affinity for the natural; she'd always just figured it was her upbringing, being raised by Edani with Edani aesthetics.

Of course, she'd eventually come to realize that affinity went far, far deeper.

"It's pretty," she said at last, cautiously.

"Yeah! Let's do it. Just, y'know, steer clear of me in case anything goes horribly wrong."

Jewel knelt down by the boxes and took a deep breath. "See, the thing is, I'm not even sure the extent of what I can do?"

"What now? Where are we going?"

Not a Rividean ship?

And it was a "she" that she was being transferred to?

Sitara blinked at the news, but she didn't relax. She wasn't out of the fryer yet. This mystery woman could be just as bad as any Rividean, for all she knew, and the vagueness around it all was excruciating.

But. Cooperation. Cooperation meant information. She could suck it up for now.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and nodded. "Alright," she said, and she walked around to gather up the cushions she'd tossed about, and set them neatly on the couch as her captor spoke. Most of it was stuff she wasn't interested in. Like food. Oh, she was hungry, probably; she hadn't eaten in over a day. But she was so tight and sick with nerves she had no appetite, and something fishy and salty didn't sound particularly good right then.

So, ignoring the bars, she instead went to the holoplayer and turned it on.

Well! Let's see! What any particular sort of plot you were looking for? ^^

Because I have Nuri, who is a Thanatos Inc. researcher. She can be pretty much anywhere! She might have even been around when John went on his rampage and have an "OH SHI" moment. |: If he's wearing the same shape as he was then. If he's not, she wouldn't even recognize him, bahaha! xD

I have Ari, a space pirate! They could probably get into some sort of shenanigans. |:

I also have Lexi, who is a mecha pilot, and Trixy, who is a fighter pilot. Both of them are soldiers for the Libra. 8D

And I've been wanting to get Yazuri into shenanigans!

But it really all depends on what sort of situation you wanna throw your dude into!

"A cactus? You got a stabby plant? With me around?" Jewel let out a nervous laugh as she let him lead her along.

"You've got a lot more faith in me than I do."

As soon as the leader left, Sitara grabbed the ends of her ears and threw her head back with an exasperated scream. She didn't understand what anything meant that that creep had just said! Yet he'd said it like that answered her questions precisely--and none of it had been particularly reassuring! And then he acted like she was being crazy and awful for freaking out when they were the ones freaking her out!

She took deep breaths when she was done screaming out her lungs and clawed her hands over her face in frustration--and to hide the tears pricking at the edges of her vision. Despite all her aggression and bluster, she knew she didn't have a chance against these brutes. All she knew was she had gone from one terrifying captor to the next, that her fate was uncertain and out of her hands--and she was scared to death. How alike the Rivideans were these creatures? Were they going to eat her? Rape her? Use her as a test subject? Who knew! But she wasn't stupid enough to believe being CIVIL was going to get her anywhere! Yes, let's be civil while they prepare a boiling pot to cook her in, lobster style!

And yet his parting words were the nail in the coffin--as well as delivering some vital information. If she didn't cooperate, she wouldn't get answers. And more importantly...

She was being transferred to another ship?!

It wasn't in her nature to be meek and submissive. But a new flash of fear and uncertainty struck her at those words, and she swallowed hard past the lump in her throat. She had to calm down and think. And after having a good scream, after getting that out of her system...maybe she would be less inclined to scream at them.

She tugged at her ears. "Okay. Look. Fine. Alright. I'll cooperate, just...what do you want from me? What's good enough cooperation for you?"

Indeed, there was order in the chaos, and Esha soon began to pick up the patterns. So that was how they did it. Sheer numbers, brute force, and suicidal tactics. They won because they weren't afraid of dying, of sacrificing themselves. They won because they were mad and had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Up close and personal was where they excelled.

How many had already died in this battle alone?

Ironic as it was, Esha found she would probably be far more afraid of their attackers if she wasn't riding with Skerrondus. How could a beast that had conquered a world be taken down by this little gang? It looked bad, especially when their assailants began to board, but she found she felt nothing. Skerrondus would slaughter them all. Just as he had done to so many others.

Why did they even bother to fight him?

The thought spilled into her mind, and her eyes widened. Gods, she couldn't start thinking like that. If she started thinking like that, it would mean she had given up--and she couldn't give up.

She couldn't.

And she knew she had better hope that Skerrondus didn't make a mistake, because she at least knew what he would do to her. She didn't know what would happen if she fell into the hands of others.

Soon she found herself alone with Korto, and she twisted where she sat to look up at him, eyes wide. Alone. Finally. They hadn't had much time at all to speak before, and she latched onto the chance now.

"Korto," she whispered, just loud enough to carry to him--hopefully.

Jewel came to a dead stop when Jesse announced he'd gotten her some plants.

"Uhhhh...that's...you what?" she said, and gave him a wide-eyed look. "After I said I'm a freakin' earth mage? You really think that's a good idea? I dunno what the hell I'm doing with this power! I could end up choking us all to death when they sprout all out of control and tangle in the engines and vents and stuff!"
