Jericho barked a laugh and playfully punched Cal's shoulder. "We cool, man, we cool. Just wanted to clear that up. Don't insult the hand that can give you a handy without ever wearing out."

She grinned wickedly at that, though it was really just a theory. She wasn't actually sure how good one would feel, and none of the folks she'd been with had been interested in finding out. Most of the guys just seemed a little squeamish at the idea, since that arm was freakishly strong. They seemed to fear she would pop their dicks right off, like she didn't know her own strength. Pffft.

She rubbed her head again, a nice little lump forming, and then stretched.  "Ugh. Do we have to get up?"

Did she have more questions? Honestly, she probably had a million--and she'd probably think of a million more when it was too late. But this was frankly overwhelming and confusing and it was hard to think of any good ones when she was put on the spot like this and stressing herself ill. They were on a time limit here. No pressure! Ask them all now or forever hold your peace!

But she did have at least one more. The most important one, as far as she was concerned.

She bit her lip, chewing it worriedly for a moment, before she looked up again. It was still so weird, looking at him. His mandibles alone would probably never stop being creepy, and she felt a little bad thinking it, since he had turned out to be...actually surprisingly decent, despite the rough start.

"Do you...do you think I could negotiate a deal with Sarah? Maybe?" she said, sitting up a little straighter. "That if I agree to do this--" Not that she had a choice! "--we find my friends first?"

Oh man, he could read her body temperature? What about her heartbeat? No wonder he could read her like a book. Hard to hide much when your body was betraying you--and when you were in the presence of a strange creature who had done it all and talked about centuries like they were years.

Kind of intimidating!

She shrugged her shoulders uncomfortably, shifting where she sat. "The Rivideans don't even give a fuck about being seen as weak or whatever, they don't care. They see us the same way some folks see cattle--creatures of convenience, there to be used for whatever they fucking want. Which is, y'know, fucking or killing, which is about all those bastards know how to do."

She shuddered. She'd seen the aftermath of what they could do to a person, and the memory made her blanch, made her breathing quicken. Made her feel like prey, reminded her of how vulnerable she still was and would be when she went back--and how selfish she was, thinking that when her friends were gone, when they were going through hell. She shook her head, hands clenching, and closed her eyes tight.

"Look, I...I don't really wanna talk about that. About what they do. I just...this whole thing is fucked up." And she was trying really, really hard not to freak out here. Gods she didn't want to go back.

"Whoa, shit, did you just psychoanalyze me? Are you psychoanalyzing me?" Sitara said, staring at him. Because, uh, he had hit the nail on the head in an unnerving way, summed her up better than she could sum up herself. The acting likea fierce big shot to hide her fear and distract her captor, yeah, that resonated with her, though she would never admut it. "'Cause I'll have you know I--wait. Millenium? You're a fucking MILLENIUM old?"

She sputtered in surprise, nearly choking on her own words, and felt...suddenly rather like a baby in his presence. She'd really started to feel all adult and shit at eighteen. Now she felt like a child.

"Uhhhh...whoa. Um. Wow, that's...huh." She cleared her throat, bouncing her leg anxiously still, feeling a little awkward. Probably like an ant in the face of a god. Or something like that.

But she did have another question still.

She shook her head, shaking away the shock, and cleared her throat again. "Um...so...what the hell. Why are you being all NICE and stuff? Like with the advice and shit? Like...aren't you a slaver or something? Like that's your slave over there right?"

Esha yelped and covered her ears at the cannon fire, and stared in disbelief at the smoldering ruins left in its wake. Oh gods. This was how Jeth had been conquered. Sheer, fanatical, suicidal brute force and chaos. When the other side wasn't afraid to die, wasn't afraid of who or what they destroyed, and had numbers to throw away, it made it significantly harder to face them.

And Skerrondus...

He was a bloody force of nature.

Esha covered her mouth, feeling ill at the gore, but couldn't look away. How did you fight an enemy like this? An enemy bigger, stronger, and more insane than your people? She didn't let herself look away, even as she wanted to vomit. She couldn't. The least she could do here was hold onto the hope that she could escape--and once she did, anything she could bring back about Skerrondus, about their fighting styles, about their technology, would be invaluable.

"Wow, it already looks less dead in here," Jewel said as she walked back into the room, scoping the place out, noting the new plants. She nodded to the boxes. "Need help?"

Sitara couldn't quite repress the shudder that went through her at his words. So there'd been others interested in buying her? She could only imagine they were other Rivideans. To think she had been that close from an entirely different fate was...unnerving, to say the least.

And even as she thought that, another pang of guilt struck her, making her insides twist sickeningly. It felt wrong to feel so relieved, so happy to have been saved, when her friends could be dying or worse as she spoke. She didn't deserve this any more than they did--less, actually! Jyoti was so kind and sweet, and Frey was so brave, and and and...

She snapped out of her thoughts when he spoke of survivor's guilt, and had to bark a dry laugh at that. Wow. Read her like a book.

"Yeah, easier said than done," she muttered, tugging at an ear. "I couldn't do shit. Sarah's gonna be really disappointed, I'm not a fighter, I'm a runner, I couldn't help anyone. They came for us and I just...I ran. Got caught anyway, hah."

It wasn't entirely true. She'd run, true, after she'd run out of bullets and they just kept coming. She hadn't stopped to try to help any of the others grabbed; she knew she couldn't help them at that point. So she'd run, and she hadn't gotten very far, and they'd taken her kicking and biting and screaming.

Her shoulders slumped. "What happens if I fail?"

Jericho sat up so quickly she smacked her head on the ceiling again. With an oof, she clasped her head, rubbing it sorely, and scowled hard at Cal.

"A junkship?! You calling my arm junk? Does it look like junk? Is it trashy to you?" She waved her bionic hand in front of his face, wiggling her fingers. "This baby is beautiful! I wouldn't put junk on my arm! Fuck no! I paid good, honest money for this thing!"

She paused. "Some of the money was honest, at least. But no! I got this baby on the Cancer. Visited this guy, specializes in prosthetics. Got me all custom fit and everything--in fact this thing won't work on someone else's stump. It's got like sensors or something in it that recognizes organic matter and blah blah DNA something or other, I'm no scientist, I don't know how it works, it just does. Anyway, this thing is worth a ton--and don't you even think about ganking it and selling it on the black market 'cause I'll find you and I'll shank you, good sex or not."

Sitara cocked her head curiously, brow scrunching up. So the lizard woman's employer was...human? There was something kind of comforting in that, because if she was employed by a human, that meant she hadn't eaten him, and if she hadn't eaten a human--when human was on the menu for her--then it surely meant she was less likely to eat her. Maybe Sitara's logic was a little weird, but it made sense to her! She relaxed, just a little, her shoulders not quite so hitched up around her ears.

Maybe...maybe this wasn't such a raw deal after all.

Except for the part where she still had to go back to Jeth.

As much as she wanted to help her friends, if she could, goddammit she was terrified of the idea. Gods, she was a coward.

"Well, huh. That makes the both of us, then," Sitara said, and flopped back against the couch cushions. Really, she'd been so focused on not dying that she'd never really thought about whether or not she had pantsfeelings for anyone. Not dying was still number one on her priority list. Probably would be for a long, long time.

"So, okay, another question. Why me? Like...why'd you chose me? Like was I just lucky, like was it random and it could have been anyone? Or was there like a reason?

Jericho blinked at his question, then paused as though having to think. Had she told him already? She thought she did, but maybe she didn't. Shit. Uh. Hm. What had she told him?

"Oh, y'know. I got captured by some assholes and tortured, as they do. They started with my fingers and when I wouldn't talk, they started taking more and more of my arm. By the time I busted outta there, high on adrenaline, I was left with ol' nubby there." She gave a flippant wave of her bionic hand, yawning.

"Nasty business. But I took way more than an arm from them when I was through with them!" she added with a grin.

Sitara pulled a face at that. Oh, she'd dealt with her share of lechers, all right, and they'd learned to back off or get their teeth busted. It still didn't mean she was thrilled at the idea of being stuck on a ship with one, in the middle of freakin' space.

"Great," she said with a roll of her eyes. "He a lizard person too? What is it with lizard people and their fuckin' attraction to us long-ears--uh, Feylini." She grimaced, accidentally calling herself by the Rividean nickname for her people. Which she had started to do ironically, and which had been a big mistake because it had started to become sincere.

'"Cause I was stupid," Jericho grumbled as she took the phone and entered in her password: 1313. She silenced the alarm, then tossed the phone onto a pillow. "'Cause we were supposed to be up and dressed and ready to do by the time the ship touched down."

She looked Cal over, then looked at herself, and stretched her arms out and under her head. "See how far that got us. Now I feel like hibernating for the next week--after a long-ass shower. And washing my sheets. You made a mess of them."

It all sounded way too good to be true, and Sitara couldn't help feeling...well, skeptical was a massive understatement. Skeptical, and panicked. Oh god, this stupid lizard lady was going to get her killed, she just knew it! She desperately didn't want to go back to Jeth now that she was off that doomed planet! She and her little group had thought they were being careful...

And then they'd been caught. Caught, and sold on the slave block. Sitara was damned lucky she'd been bought by these fellows instead. Her friends? Not so lucky.

Her stomach twisted, sharp and sudden, at the thought--a thought she hadn't allowed herself to think until now. No, prior to this, she'd had her own fate to worry about, a fate she figured she'd share with them, but somehow she'd been lucky. Her friends...oh gods...

Sitara paled, looking suddenly ill, and swallowed hard. Why had she been the lucky one, and not them? Why had she been chosen? It could have been any of them. But they were still there, probably in Rividea, and--she didn't want to think of the rest. She bit her lip, her throat and chest tightening with emotion, but she took a deep breath and held it back. Every instinct screamed at her, told her this was madness, that there was no hope for those who had been taken, that they were probably dead by now. But what if they weren't? What if they were there being...being tortured and...

She tugged at the ends of her ears, shoulders hunching. "You...you really think she's got a shot?" she asked, voice oddly small.

The timer had gone off somewhere during all that--in fact, Jericho could still hear her phone playing some elevator music tune on an endless loop out in the other room where she'd left it. She didn't have the energy to get up and turn it off, even though it was slowly driving her insane. It was all she could do to just lay there, comatose and panting, pleasant endorphins flooding her system though beneath it all, she could tell she was going to have so much regret in a few minutes when she tried to walk again. Just because she was too proud to back down from a little playful teasing.

Now they were in her little bed, which was wedged into a wall to preserve space on the small ship. she was kind of impressed that she'd only banged her head against the ceiling twice. Yeah, she'd seen stars in several different ways!

"Ughhhh," she finally moaned, rolling over--and accidentally knocking her bionic arm into Cal's chest. "I swear if I have to hear that damned music one more time...Caaaaal. Go turn off my phone."

"Eugh. That sounds depressing," Jewel said with a frown. "Good thing we got these, then 'cause like...yeah. Thanks for these! I know I'm weird about plants and stuff but y'know. Being what I am...I had to be careful back home."

She smiled down at the fern, then shrugged. "I'll be right back. Just gonna stick this somewhere so I don't have to keep holding it!"

"...Wait, hold up," Sitara said, holding up her hands. "Back up. This lizard lady wants to free my people? Like...from the Rivideans? Like...wait...why?"

She stared at the crab man, blue eyes wide. "Like, not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, don't get me wrong, that's awesome! Yay, free my people from the awful slaughterbeasts, nice! But like...correct me if I'm wrong here but Sarah is like...one person...? And Jeth is like...a planet. Occupied by sociopathic murdermonsters. Lots of them."

She scratched nervously at an ear. "She might be like powerful and stuff, but um...we're gonna like die if we go back."

"Can't take the heat...as if," Jericho scoffed against his lips, before melting into the kiss and giving his own lip a sharper nibble. "I've got more stamina than you can shake your dick at, Cally."

Actually, she was pretty damned exhausted now, after doing this twice in a row after months of not exercising in quite this fashion, but hell if she was going to be the first to cry uncle. Maybe it was silly, but she hated being one-upped. And the alarm hadn't gone off yet. Gods, was she really that quick of a lay?

Wrapping her arms around him, she rolled, bringing him with her and grunting as the floor dug uncomfortably into her hip before she stretched out onto her back. Ow. Should've probably thought about laying down something soft, but she hadn't really figured she'd be banging on the floor anytime soon.

"You want more? It's your turn to do the work. I've been doing aaaall of it."

Haviah / Re: Sometimes, music is an acquired taste [M]

Well, this was only mildly awkward.

Gabriel had been a long time fan of Nikita's and owned all her albums and drove Roman crazy singing her songs (badly), so he'd naturally leaped at the chance for a meet and greet. Get some of his records signed? Hell yes! Take a selfie with her? Sure! Get to geek out and fangasm? Yes please!

A date, though?

Uhhhhh.

Something had gotten lost in translation.

Apparently, all those relationship consent forms he'd had to sign to date a higher ranking Pilot? Apparently, none of those had reached their PR agent, despite the artcles circulating the tabloids. To be fair, though, it was a recent development. Or maybe they DID know, and went ahead with this ANYWAY for the sake of stirring the pot and creating a buzz? Ugh, who knew! Gabriel just knew he would have to correct this fast!

It also would have been nice to have known earlier, not ten seconds before meeting her!

Still, he was to be a good representative of the Pilots, and he had been chosen for his approachability and familiarity with pop culture. No pressure or anything. Just don't screw up in front of the cameras! No big deal!

"Pilot Tierney? You're up," someone called to him, motioning to the elevator and giving him the floor, and Gabriel swallowed hard. His nerves were flaring, definitely. Always nerve-wracking to meet someone famous, even if he technically fell into that category! Always nerve-wracking not to come off as an ass or a creeper!

But he stepped into the elevator, punched the button, and soon the elevator lurched and dinged and opened again. Gabriel paused before exiting and took a deep breath. Was he too underdressed? Probably. He didn't own anything fancy outside his formal uniform, and that seemed waaay too formal and intimidating. Plus, y'know...didn't want to give date vibes.

But maybe a World of Warlocks t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers was too casual?

Ahhh!

Stepping out of the elevator, he sucked in a breath when he saw her. Oh shit. That was her. THE Nikita. Right there. Living and breathing. Quick, say something normal!

"Whoa, you're tall!"

I have several Pilots he could interact with, and several candidates if he ever is around the ATC! 8D

Gabriel is a Pilot Echo, and is super friendly and social and geeky. xD He can talk to anyone! And he's kind of an epic troll, especially with people who outrank him, and especially with serious sorts. >_>

Shiloh is...a social disaster. xD He's an insecure prick, and a recent graduate, but man is he on his best behavior around higher ranked Pilots.

And Keziah is just chill as a penguin. 8D

Then there's Dakota, a Stage 5 candidate who is about to graduate, so he spends most of his time working with the Pilots. Friendly, flirty, and easily underestimated. xD

Sitara was done with sitting. She wanted to pace some more, feeling restless and ansty and even more so now that he had mentioned Jeth and her being a guide to that place?! A guide! Oh no. Oh HELL no! Just the idea filled her with palatable dread, and made the walls around her feel all the more oppressive.

But she wanted answers, and she knew she wouldn't get them if she didn't sit her ass down and play the good girl for now.

Ears twitching, muscles tense with nerves, she wiped water from her lips and trudged over to the couch, taking a seat on the edge as though perched to flee at a moment's notice. She crossed one leg over the other, but her foot bounced restlessly as she looked up at her strange, very alien captor.

"Okay, so, not a question but like first thing's first, there is no fucking way in hell I'm going back to Jeth," she said. "Just to clear that up. 'Cause I ain't being a guide. Not there. Fuck no. She can eat me or whatever but that place's like deathrape central like is she CRAZY?"
