Physical Description
Other than her coloring, she appears mostly human except for her ears, which end in distinct points and are long enough to sort of flop over. Maya has pale lavender skin and long, powder blue hair often worn in a myriad of tiny braids twisted around her head a few times and then falling down her back. Her eyes are slightly angular and bright gold, framed by thick lashes.

Her face is marked by a white design that frames her eyes and travels down her cheeks in gentle curves, trailing the sides of her neck to stop in an elegant little knot at her collar (this is actually a natural marking of her species, not a tattoo). She favors white clothing and silver jewelry, when she can find it, and usually wears garments that reveal a decent amount of skin as she finds them easier to move in.

Personality
Curious by nature, Maya is a gentle soul with an open and giving heart. She has an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a yearning to learn as much about the universe as she is able. Though she tends to think the best of people on principal, she is not exactly naive, and has been traveling on her own long enough to have some modicum of "street smarts".

Magic/Abilities
A natural ability of the Ala'ora is their ability to communicate by thought rather than verbally. In fact, the entire species is mute; most of them only "mind-speak" in images and emotions, as words are a fairly foreign concept to them, though those that interact with humans are able to pick up some spoken language and transmit that.

Maya can telepathically project thoughts and feelings into other people's minds through physical contact--the better she knows a person, the less contact she needs, and with someone she's very close with she may not even need to touch them at all.

The ala'ora also have an electromagnetic defense mechanism that evolved in their time as "primitive" lifeforms; essentially they have the same ability to shock someone as an electric eel.

Her gifts from Mother really only expand on her natural abilities, allowing her to project not just thoughts and feelings but incredibly sophisticated illusions into a person's mind. She could make a person walk off a cliff by projecting the image of solid ground ahead of him, and he wouldn't realized what had happened until he hit the ground. Which of course she doesn't know she can do.

Relationships
Her family back on her home planet: four mothers and five fathers and a gaggle of siblings, both older and younger.

History
Born into a typical family for the Ala'ora people, Maya always dreamed of a grander life traveling the stars, so when she was old enough and independent enough to do so she set out. It was strange at first- due to their open nature, Ala'ora rarely travel without others of their kind, and usually they become desperately depressed without family contact.

Maya is rather unique of Mother's children in that she was not "gifted" as a child, but rather beguiled onto Mother's spacecraft and given her augmented abilities there at the age of twenty, before the memories were erased from her mind and she was sent on her way.
