The Cancer / Re: Meeting In The Bar ((Open))
« on: September 07, 2017, 08:22:12 pm »
(Mind if I join? :3)

Flynn, for the most part, was blending in quite well with the crowd on the dance floor. Rowdy clubs like this weren't his forte. He preferred the more subdued, smokey dives were chips flowed and dangerous men glared at each other from behind their cards. Sure, you had a good chance of losing your money, but also a chance of doubling it.

Just don't get caught cheating.

Rather, don't let anyone suspect you of cheating.

Honestly, did they really believe that he would be naive enough to try and hide an ace in the sleeve of his jacket?

So, without going into full detail, he'd had to run. He'd taken a few licks during his mad dash towards the door, dished a few more out, but had otherwise escaped without a scratch. He deftly rubbed the bruise on his left cheek. It still throbbed, but it was nothing a few glasses of rot-gut whiskey couldn't fix. The one side affect, however, was that he was getting a little more tipsy than he'd planned. Eh, whatever.

They were surely looking for him out on the streets, so the smuggler had taken refuge in this particular club. Just play it cool, mingle, have a few drinks, and he could slip back to his ship and bolt for safer harbors.

Flynn's train of thought was interrupted as someone splashed him down his front with their drinking. Clenching his fist, he prepared a punch for the culprit, but stopped when he found that it was a rather cute redhead. She began to slur about "buying him a new shirt" and whatnot, and he grinned. What could he say? He was in between jobs, and could definitely use a respite.

"Hey! No problem! I'd appreciate it." He told Essie, wiping away some excess liquid that had landed on his face.

PLAYER WANTS

What types of plots are you interested in playing?

Adventure, action, crime, pretty much whatever.

What types of plots are you not interested in playing?

Anything excessively gory or dark. No horror plots especially.

How often can you reply to any given thread?

Everyday unless I give notice otherwise.

What is the longest you're willing to wait for a reply to a thread?

72 hrs

Are you open to RPing over instant messengers? If so, what's the best way to contact you and what times are you generally available?

No. Keep it to the forums, please.

Are you open to post volleying?
(Where you and another player post rapidly back and forth in a thread with each other. If so, what's the best way to set that up?)

Yes, just PM me.

Anything else?

Nah.

PLAYER LIMITS

What are you limits regarding powerplay/godmoding?
(For instance, do you mind if someone grabs your character? Picks them up? Punches them?)

If it's reasonable, then yes. If you're going to do something completely drastic, and-or completely pwn my character, please PM me first.

What are your limits in regards to romantic situations?
(What are you comfortable with and not comfortable with? Do you prefer to pre-plot relationships or let them happen organically? Are you open to IC-rejection or love-triangles? Age differences? Etc.)

I'm okay with it all, save for really dark/odd fetishes. Please PM me first if you're unsure.

What are your limits in regards to sex?
(Do you prefer to imply it, fade to black, or play it out? Is there anything you won't write?)

I don't care either way. PM me.

What are your limits in regards to pregnancy within plots?
(Are you okay with pregnancy in plots? Miscarriages? Loss?)

Pregnancies suck enough in real life. I'm trying to live out a fantasy online. So please, no pregnancies.

What are your limits in regards to violent scenes?
(Are you comfortable with violent scenes? Do you prefer to imply it, fade to black, or play it out? Is there anything you won't write?)

I'm okay with violence/torture, as long as it's kept relatively pg-13. If it would be featured in the game DOOM, please don't write it.

What are your limits in regards to abuse/rape in plots?
(Are you comfortable with such themes? Do you prefer to avoid them? Do you prefer to imply it, fade to black, or play it out?)

If it makes sense in the story, sure, but I don't think I'm comfortable writing it out.

Are you okay with characters being transformed against their will?
(Think vampires and werewolves. Should a player ask before attempting to turn your character?)

Please ask first. I'll probably say no, however unless there's a cure.

What about healing?
(For instance, if someone plays a blind character they may not want people to try and "cure" the character.)

My character is healthy for the most part. If he loses a limb, it's not a good thing. Please give me heals.

Anything else?
(Anything else you want to add that other players should know!)

Nope.

Wanderers and Independents / Flynn Blackburn - Smuggler, Gambler, Explorer
« on: September 07, 2017, 07:29:34 pm »
__________________QUICK STATS
Name: Flynn Blackburn
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Ethnicity: N/A
Height: 5'11"
Occupation: Smuggler, Gambler, Explorer, Scoundrel
Residence: Cancer

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Build- Decently muscled, though not big
Eyes/Face: Brown, square jaw, clean-shaven, full lips
Hair: Cut short, top parted to the right
Clothes: Navy blue tee, brown, leather bomber jacket. Jeans and sturdy brown, leather boots. Holster on right thigh. Black, fingerless gloves and kneepads.

Personality: Flynn is a risk-taker and a thrill-seeker, first and foremost. Very rarely will he take any sort of situation seriously, preferring to perform his work with a sense of confident swagger. A quick wit has lead to many altercations, not to mention the fact that he is not beyond bending the rules to get his way.

In general, he's not necessarily evil. He's a kind and affable fellow to most that he meets, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. Professionalism is a foreign concept to him. However, he is still a criminal, and thus will almost always do nothing unless there's money in it for him.

Magic/Abilities: What makes Flynn different from most smugglers? His innate ability to control ice, of course! Flynn can create many simply objects from ice, including shields and blades. As of yet, he has no idea where this ability comes from.

For combat, Flynn keeps his trusty plasma revolver on his thigh. On his back he wears an odd contraption passed down from his father. On command, mechanical wings sprout from the small "backpack" and allow flight using an unknown form of anti-gravity system. Handy for quick escapes.

Relationships: None

History: Unbeknownst to Flynn, the smuggler was not actually born on Cancer. He was left there as an infant by his father and mother, who hailed from another star system. In their neck of the galaxy, pirates reigned supreme, and even had a form of organized government, headed by a monarchy. Flynn's parents were the king and queen of this "pirate kingdom", effectively making Flynn a prince.

However, Flynn spent his life growing up on cancer as an orphan. When he wasn't cooped up in the small orphanage he called his home (or trying to sneak out), he ran amok among the pirates, criminals, and assorted others of the space station. With little education or marketable skills, Flynn was drawn to the life of crime as a way to keep food in his stomach. It started small, by petty theft at age twelve, to drug-dealing at age fifteen. He began to move up in rank in Cancer's underbelly, eventually landing a job as a deckhand aboard a smuggler's ship. It was here that he discovered a knack for piloting. Seeing this, the ship's captain took the twenty year-old under his wing as an apprentice, teaching him the tools of the trade for an accomplished smuggler.

Then, one day, their luck ran out. The law caught up with them on Edanith. Flynn watched his crew and captain get arrested by law enforcement, and took the opportunity to run before he could be seen.

Now, Flynn has his own ship, and works strictly as a solo act. He makes his money smuggling, loses it gambling, and occasionally takes a vacation by searching the outer reaches of the system for new worlds to explore.
