The Citadel / Tech Obsessed (Solo)

The door slid open, and Kole leapt up from his desk, lines from the desk imprinted on his left cheek. His normally narrow eyes went wide, revealing the entirety of their crimson color. He had dark rings around his eyes, and his green hair was a complete mess. He stood unsteadily, as though the slightest tap could make the man crumble. His pants were undone, he only wore one sock, and he had no shirt on. Needless to say, Kole was not exactly expecting company.

"How'd you get in here?" He asked, his voice gruff from the short nap he had taken. "The door was locked."

The girl put her hand on her hip, looking him up and down. "Looking good, Kole," Gwyn said, nodding with her lips pursed. "You gave me the code, remember?"

He ran his hand over his hair, doing nothing to improve his appearance. "Oh, right. Right, I forgot about that." Kole disappeared into his bedroom, remerging a few minutes later with a long robe to cover his mechanical right arm.

"Did you also forget you were supposed to meet me at my apartment twenty minutes ago?"

"Gwyn, you're starting to sound like my boss."

She rolled her eyes. "It's horrible in here," Gwyn said. "How can you even see?"

The apartment was insanely dark. The curtains were closed, the lights were all turned off, and glow from the computer screen did nothing to illuminate the room. She turned on a light, and he squinted. "Why?"

"Because light is good."

"Coming from an illumnokinetic, that means nothing." He yawned. Gwyn scoffed at him and walked over to his curtains. "No, no, no, wait!"

She opened the curtains to let the daylight in, but found something much more interesting. The entire window was covered in equations and quick drawings on little note papers or just written directly on the window in dry erase marker. Gwyn looked at the squinting man with wide eyes. "Kole, what the hell?" She couldn't think of anything else to say.

He shrugged. "You know my deal," he said, closing the curtains. "I obsess. You knew this when we started."

"This is a bit more than an obsession..."

"I don't criticize your quirks," he said. She only had to look at him for him to take it back. "I'll be at your place in fifteen."

Quartermaster (First Mate): *recruiting*
     - One step below Captain, this man/woman would take control over the ship if the Captain could no longer perform his/her duties. He/she is the Captain's right hand, and he/she has the authority to punish subordinates for disobeying his/her commands.

Flight Master: *recruiting*
     - This man/woman is in control of navigation and piloting. Must be skilled in reading navigational equipment. Must have some experience in charting the stars.

Gunner: *recruiting*
    - This man/woman is in charge of everything having to do with the ship's weaponry. He/she is in charge of small groups of people, who make sure the weapons are all properly calibrated and maintained.

Weapons Operators: *recruiting*
     - These individuals take their orders from the Gunner, the Quartermaster, or the Captain. They are in charge of operating the ship's weapons and defense systems.

Boatswains: *recruiting 3 positions*
     - These young men/women are usually between the ages of 15-18, though some exceptions may apply. They are junior officers, who are tasked with supervising all activities on the ship. They report only to the Captain or the Quartermaster.

Doctor: *recruiting*
     - This man/woman is in charge of tending to any and all illnesses or injuries and performing duties which include surgeries. If a patient's life cannot be saved, the Captain only may give the order to terminate life.

Nurses: *recruiting*
     - These individuals are in charge of tending to any minor ailments which don't require the Doctor's attention. They are also required to assist the Doctor whenever necessary.

Engineer: *recruiting*
     - This man/woman is in charge of everything mechanical on the ship. Any issues with the computers, engines, defense, etc. are all run by him/her. This is possibly the most important role on the ship.

Mechanics: *recruiting*
     - These individuals work directly below the head Engineer to tend to the ship's mechanical upkeep.

Physical Description
Max is a slender beauty with fair skin and naturally rosy cheeks. She has completely black hair that is almost always in loose curls which reach the middle of her back. Her bedroom eye shape is complimented by the green color that can pierce your soul. She has long legs with a beach model body, though she cares very little about her natural beauty. She always has her lips painted red, and she has two blue stripes tattooed horizontally on her left cheek, as well as two blue circles tattooed around her left upper arm. Her ears are pierced multiple times, always changing between gems and hoops.

Her clothing reflects the more traditional style that pirates leaned towards, along with a few modifications she added herself. Max wears an off-white shirt that clings to her body with ruffles over her breasts and tank-top sleeves. She has low-rise pants that are skin-tight and a red-brown color. It's clear where they have been worn, but she loves the look of clothing that earned the blemishes. Her brown boots go up to her knees and with scuff marks all over them. The brown jacket she wears fits her body well and falls to her knees. Max wears a red sash around her waist and sometimes adds a matching one in her hair.  The only accessory she wears sentimentally is the sapphire engagement ring from her past love.

She carries more weapons than ashs probably should. She has her pistol secured in its holster around her right thigh, as well as her cutlass in its belt sheath on her left hip. Max has an eight-foot whip on her right hip and a dagger hidden in her right boot.

Personality
Though she once was something of a goody-two-shoes, Max's old friends wouldn't recognize her now. She's a strong woman who knows where she belongs, and she will never take shit from anyone. Not to be confused with someone who won't take criticism, as she is more than willing to listen to the advice of anyone she actually thinks of as important, which is a very short list.

In general, she is the last person you would want to double-cross because she will come back with something much more fun. You slap her in the face, she hits you with a chair. She'll never play on anyone's team. Either she leads, or you don't have her services. Her motives are run by her and her alone: she isn't afraid to change her destination or price in the middle of a job.

Max exudes authority, but that doesn't mean she can't let loose and have fun, as she often does. With no wants for a steady life or family, Max is free to do what she wants when she wants. She's a leader, through and through, capable of turning even the most noble into a wanted fugitive.

Magic/Abilities
Technopathy: This particular gift allows Max to communicate with the computers that run her ship. She didn't obtain this gift naturally, though. When she became captain of the Liberator, she had a chip designed and implanted in her spine at the base of her skull which basically turned her into the computer.

Electrogenesis: Slightly differing from the psionic found in Aedolis, Max's talent allows her to generate electric energy to charge technology or even for medical reasons, for example restarting a heart. If the computers die on the ship, or if they need an energy boost of some kind, she's able to pump it full of electricity to give some added power.

Navigation: Though technically not anything impressive, Max relies on the stars for navigation. She is aware that computers can be hacked and navigational systems can go down, she she has taught herself the map of the stars.

Flight: Flight of a ship, that is. Max is experienced and thoughtful about how she flies her ships. She is agile and intelligent, planning several different courses of actions at once. Though she's most at home at the helm, she is capable of taking over any of the other positions if needed.

Combat: Amazing. Simple as that. Her combat skills are rarely rivaled, purely because of the range. She can throw knives with perfect accuracy; she can sword fight in nearly any style; she can shoot with both hands; she can operate the ship's weapons. There are truly few weapons that Max can't use.

Relationships
The only people she cares about are her crew members. She will verbally beat on them occasionally, but that's how pirates show love! "Dirty bastard" = "my friend" in pirate language. She would easily kill for anyone of them, and she would lay her own life on the line for her officers.

History
Max comes from a long line of Libran pilots, going back six generations on her father's side. In her family, the men were expected to become pilots, while the women did whatever they wanted. When her father realized that he was not going to have a son, Max was pushed into the pilot program. Having always wanted to be a pilot like her father, Max was absolutely fine with it. She later discovered that she was far from a good fit.

During the training, she met a handsome, young man with a scar on his cheek who was just a year ahead of her. They worked well enough together that they became best friends, and eventually partners, earning the title of Knight. Their partnership even extended to their personal lives. She didn't feel at home as a military pilot, but he just made it better. One day, his weapons system malfunctioned, and her ship was accidentally shot down. Her escape lever was jammed, but she was able to eject herself a few seconds before the ship crashed. Unfortunately, she escaped just in time to watch his ship go down.

With him gone, Max had no real motive to go back to her life as a pilot. Everyone thought she was dead, so maybe that was what it should be. She went under an assumed name and faked a paper trail so deep that Aedolian Seekers wouldn't be able to find a flaw. She started working on a cruise ships for mediocre pay, but soon made up her mind to become captain of her own vessel. Through this mindset, she turned to piracy.

Her life as a pirate was just what she wanted. Max thrived on piloting a ship, but she needed the freedom that came with being a pirate. When she was twenty-two, she started putting a crew together of like-minded individuals. At twenty-three, she and her new friends commandeered a large explorer vessel from a docking station. She renamed the ship the SS Liberator and started living as she was always meant to.

Haviah / Studying a Student {Private: Arany}

Gwyndolenn looked into the mirror of her apartment, once again tying her black hair in a thick braid. It was her signature look when she was on duty, but this time was different. She was off-duty and just simply wanted to go for a flight. Her dragon, Vendremdirr, was a piece of work, but he loved their partnership almost as much as she did. Anyone who knew the dragon before their partnership was more than surprised when they became a team, as Ven was far from what one would want in a dragon. Still, they took to each other immediately and haven't looked back.

She dressed herself in the flight suit, complete with breathing apparatus, then started to the nearest aerie. The black dragon was sitting there patiently, his metallic tail curve around him and his chest proudly extended.

Gwyn, he said telepathically with a slight nod, acknowledging her with the correct amount of respect. He was absolutely able to regard her with disrespect because of the dragons' societal rank being higher than the Pilots', but he wouldn't disrespect her as long as she didn't disrespect him.

"Ven," she said, smirking and walking over to him, "thank you for doing this. I know we're off-duty, but-"

Off-duty is boring, he said, interrupting her. He stood up, his large wings extended. He was a prideful dragon, but it was well-earned. The two of them really reflected each other's personalities, sometimes literally, as they were about to see.

Taking off in flight, Gwyn starting casting spells that manipulated the light around them. She had already practically mastered her gift, but a good researcher knew no one ever really stopped learning. The light she bent bounced off of Ven's silver back, as well as the silver armor along his underside. It was an interesting combination, as the two of them using that particular spell could create a spotlight for hunting others down. Illumnokinesis was a rare gift, so Gwyn made a career for herself by studying her own power, though that was definitely not the easiest thing to do. Still, the more she could learn, the better everyone would understand it.

Physical Description
Aspyr is quite tall and lean with an authoritative energy exuded from every inch of him. He takes his appearance moreso from his father's Dark Elf bloodline, while his skills lean more towards his mother's side. He has extremely pointed ears with golden eyes. His skin is a deep midnight blue, verging on black, and his white-blond hair falls below his shoulders and is commonly tied in a low ponytail to keep it out of his way.

He wears clothing made primarily for function, rather than fashion. Aspyr really could not care less about how he dresses and takes pride in his skill over his appearance. He has pants of a grey-brown color with multiple pockets on them tucked into hardy, brown boots with a sole made for gripping any terrain. His shirt is commonly a grey tank top, but he almost always wears a brown jacket over it. He carries a single-handed broad sword on the left side of his belt and a hook sword on the right side.

There are two marks he has to distinguish him from others...

The first would be the four extremely noticeable scars running from his forehead to firm jawline on the left side. His left eye has an appearance of blindness, though he does still have a significant amount of vision in it. And the other are the intricate white and blue tribal tattoos that run from the shoulder to hand of his right arm.

Personality
Aspyr is the kind of person who is run by duty. He holds his job above all else, including himself. If something happened to him and the job was a success, Aspyr would be able to die contently.

Though he was naturally a loner, he has grown to be a team player and always takes on the role of leader. He is usually quiet, listening to what people have to say, but this is often perceived as inattentive. Anyone who actually knows Aspyr would know that he has a memory like a steel trap and a mind faster than the Network in Aedolis.

He is loyal and fast acting, ensuring the safety of the people he's leading before anything else. As long as his team comes back breathing, any mission is a success.

Magic/Abilities
His golden eyes are sharp and observant, also having incredible vision in the dark. Due to his mixed Elf bloodline, he has the best of the Dark Elves and the best of the Wood Elves. He has enhanced agility and stamina, as well as nearly perfect aim. He can throw an aerodynamically flawed knife into a bullseye over 250 yards away.

He is trained well with all kinds of swords, learning all kinds of swordsmanship, including left-handed fighting. He loves using his broadsword, but the hook sword he carries has proven most useful, not only for combat.

History
Aspyr was raised by his parents as an only child. His father was a scout, while his mother was a teacher. Both of them were kind souls. Aspyr took after his father in almost every way, right down to what he wanted to do as an adult.

Against his mother's wishes, Aspyr began accompanying his father on scouting missions. When he was fourteen, they went on a mission in the wastelands and ran into a mutant. Apsyr wanted to try to communicate with it, but his father knew better. He threw a knife between the mutant's eyes, not before the mutant tore half of Aspyr's face open. Despite the injury, Aspyr continued to go with his father. The boy had the mark of a natural leader, taking charge of everyone in his father's team. His father allowed it, as long as the right decisions were made. Aspyr even prevented one of the scouts from getting mauled by a mutant as he had.

He was educated well by his mother, but his father taught him how to survive. He was seventeen when his father died. He and his mother lived alone. She kept teaching, while Aspyr took over his father's scout duties. He quickly grew tired of the same jobs, so he took up hunting as well. He took to both as though they were what he had always been meant to do.

He was twenty-two when his mother died. She came down with some kind of illness and wasn't diagnosed in time to be saved. His mother's loss was enough to push him completely into his work. He honed his skills to as close to perfection as could be, and he refused to pay attention to anything that wouldn't help his career.

When Aspyr was twenty-nine, he was noticed by the right people. He was offered the job of Field Captain, which would put him in charge of the scouts, foragers, and hunters. After about a month of trial, Aspyr was official granted the title. He didnt take the promotion lightly, putting more of himself than ever into his work and ensuring his teams were the very best there had ever been.

Physical Description
NiiO is rather tall, but has a slender build. He has golden-brown hair kept short. His skin holds a rich tan with the faint traces of cheetah-like spots all over him. His eyes are green with vertical pupils for better sight in the dark. NiiO has sharp canine teeth that would poke out a little bit over his bottom lip if he didn't watch himself.

He prefers to wear regular everyday clothing, which usually consists of dark pants and boots with a light tee underneath a black leather jacket. He almost always wears a cap when out of uniform.

Personality
He has a relatively relaxed view of life, enjoying the good stuff Aedolis had to offer. He frequents many bars, enjoying to have a drink or make a pass at the nearest pretty lady. NiiO is a player, through and through, though his job and duty will always come first. He prefers not to make any strong or lasting romantic connections because his role as an Inquisitor isn't exactly the most peaceful job.

He lives a relatively shallow life, feeling that real emotional connections will cloud his ability to think straight when doing his job. In actuality, NiiO is afraid of taking on too many people's emotions, or maybe even unintentionally manipulating his subject's emotions, which would put his job at risk.

Magic/Abilities
Empathy. As an Empath, NiiO was an absolutely perfect candidate for the Inquiry branch of the Pilots. He is able to read or even manipulate others' emotions, giving him much control over them.

He is a nearly perfect shot from the back of his dragon partner. NiiO likes guns, and he isn't afraid to openly talk about it. He does target practice almost daily and improves a little bit each time.

He also has extremely heightened agility, due to him being part pantherid. He can run much faster than a human, as well as for a longer distance. He has better hearing, and he can see in the dark.

Relationships
Dragon: Jektulion

DRAGON: Jektulion is 26 years old and on the smaller side of the dragons, but he is extremely fast and even more clever. The dragon has naturally gold scales with manmade copper plates covering his underside for protection. His 18-foot wings are mechanically designed like solar panels; they attract and store light and heat energy for use. He's a trickster and proud of it. Jektulion is loyal and will be there the instant NiiO needs something, but he enjoys messing with anyone and everyone nearby.

History
NiiO's childhood was filled with drugs, sex, and abuse; nothing a child should be forced to live through. His parents were addicts, who often brought strange people back to the house for hook-ups and other things that NiiO didn't want to imagine. His Empathy exposed him even more to the emptiness of the lives his parents were living, and he would often sit in his bedroom and cry. His father saw the boy as weak and pathetic, so he would strike him day after day to try to toughen him up. All it did was make NiiO cynical of the world in his adulthood.

When he joined the Pilots, he stayed in the background and didn't want to be noticed. He didn't understand that his Empathy was actually a form of psychic power, so he refused to let anyone see it. A Pilot Noble Inquisitor mentored NiiO, seeing potential in the boy to be a great asset for the Inquiry branch. He was correct.

NiiO bonded with Jektulion hen he was 19 years old, and he was overjoyed to join the Inquiry. He worked closely with his mentor for a little over two years, quickly earning his own way in the military. He learned to see his Empathy as a strength, rather than a weakness, though he refused to let anyone really get close to him, fearing that he would once again be hurt or viewed as weak.

Physical Description
Kole is a handsome man with nerves of steel. He has bright green hair that is kept short on the sides and spiky on the top. His narrow eyes are deep crimson with a black ring around the iris. He is proud of his Elf heritage, not ashamed of displaying his significantly pointed ears.

He has a few mechanical advancements made to his body, all of which were made by his own hand. Literally. He only had one hand when making these advancements. His right arm is visibly mechanical. He could have disguised it as a natural arm, but he preferred the appearance and thought it was pointless to pretend he really had both arms.

He wears his standard uniform almost everywhere, though his regular clothing is primarily a button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled halfway up and left unbuttoned over a solid colored tee. He wears jeans and sneakers, as he believes he should always be ready for action if something were to happen.

Personality
He is wholeheartedly dedicated to his duties as a Pilot, sometimes seeming too dedicated. Kole always has some kind of access to a computer, which doesn't help his addiction. He is heavily invested in the job, though he isn't completely sure whether or not he's using the job to cover for some emptiness he has.

He is very close to his dragon partner, but he doesn't tell the dragon everything. The bond they have is strong, so the dragon doesn't pry. Still, the two of them do lead separate lives and respect each other's differences.

Magic/Abilities
Electrogenesis! This gift is one of the most rare, so Kole prefers to keep it relatively hidden under the disguise of technopathy. With 28 years of practice, he has gotten a relatively good handle on it, being able to stop his power from interfering too much with everything around him. Still, the electromagnetic field that was generated in his mind came in handy when it came to unwanted prying.

His mechanical arm is tied into his biological body. It cuts off at the shoulder, but the mechanical nerves melded with his biological tissue to make the arm functional, as though it were always part of his body. The arm can link into computers, feeding desired information into Kole's mind. It's a really efficient method of learning!

Dragon: Elimnia

DRAGON: Elimnia is forty-two years old, and she is about the size of a garbage truck with a wingspan of just under thirty feet. She has a slender body with beautifully defined muscles. She is completely silver with a white underbelly and white bat-like wings. Her front, left leg is mechanical (Kole's design) as she lost her leg in a battle. She has metal plates embedded in her spine, from the back of her head to the tip of her tail. She has a thin neck and spikes curved over her neck from the top of her head. She's a bit of a loner, but finds comfort and affection in Kole.

History
Kole knew of his gift with technology before he was able to speak. He was taken from his parents at a very young age and given to a retired Pilot, named Jiltin, to be raised. Jiltin taught Kole how to interact with technology and computers, but Kole refused to listen and taught himself his own way. Unfortunately, Kole was inexperienced and had a few mishaps. After accidentally electrocuting himself, he had to get his right arm amputated.

Jiltin paid to have a prosthetic made for Kole, but the boy thought he could do better. Turned out he could. He was seven years old when he built himself a mechanical prosthetic arm that grew into his nerves. The arm could even plug into computers and feed Kole knowledge through absorption.

At thirteen, he entered the Pilot Candidate Program with a hopeful outlook. It was far from what he expected. The program was rigorous and he lost several friends to mental breakdowns. Fortunately, he met a pretty Elf girl who was (at the time) a Pilot Cardinal. She was eight years older than he was, and he developed a strong friendship with her, which only grew as they aged. When he honed his electrogenesis, he hid it under the guise of technopathy. Kole didn't want to be put under a microscope because of his extremely rare psychic gift, but he felt confident enough with Gwyn to tell her about it. He even went so far as to let her study him.

When he turned eighteen, he met Elimnia, his dragon partner. She was close to Gwyn's dragon partner, Vendremdirr, so it wasn't surprising that the two took to each other so quickly. Unfortunately, during a battle, Elimnia lost her left front leg. The other Pilots wanted to fit Elimnia for a prosthetic, but Kole insisted that he be in charge of it. He created a mechanical leg for her similar to his own, whichc quickly fused itself to Elimnia's body.

They advanced through the ranks at a respectable pace, preferring to stay mostly under the radar but still acknowledged for their feats.

Physical Description
Kaladin was once very handsome, but you probably couldn't tell when looking at the years of pain and hardship he wears proudly. He stands well over six feet tall, though his long, dusty-brown coat makes him seem a bit shorter. He has a strong jaw with what seems like a permanent frown on thin, slightly misshapen lips. His eyes are a deep, oaky brown, and the lines beneath reveal the torturous life he's led. He has dark, brown hair that hangs shaggily beneath a wide-brimmed, faded brown hat. He wears brown breeches with an amount of patchwork so extreme that it's shocking they haven't disintegrated. Kaladin carries three guns on him, never less, and nine knives around his body.

Scars cover the man's body from head to toe, remnants of some good times in his life. Kaladin sometimes sports a dark beard, mostly to cover up as much of the horrible scar on the right half of his face as he can.

Personality
"Never presume I will not act on my worst instincts."

If you want a description of Kaladin, look no further than that quote. He's had enough in his past to make a lesser man crumble. Making friends and connections is a distant second to Kaladin, his primary focus on survival, physical and mental. What few people he does keep in contact with could be described as like-minded and not exactly friendly. As far as this boy can see, he born into a damned situation and a game he never asked to play. If someone were to call him out on it, all they would get in response is a sociopathic laugh. Ever since his partner died, it's been him against every gangster, bandit, brute, and slaver. How would you have ended up, he might ask.

There's a softer side to Kaladin, though very few have seen it. Honor and loyalty, once the way he lived his life, are dirty words to him. He now sees them as nothing but weakness in that dog-eat-dog world. It may be possible to earn the man's respect, maybe even affection. But a better way to understanding Kaladin...?

Magic/Abilities
Though Kaladin rarely uses it, he was trained to use a special magic, for which the simple term is "black orb." It's a unique type of fire magic, where a black orb of glassy smoke forms between his hands with a small flame inside inside of it. When cast at something or someone, the blast has the power to level a small town.

He is much more familiar and comfortable with manmade weapons. Kaladin always carries his:
Orb Shooter - handgun capable of holding eight rounds, used for duels and non-lethal combat - stays in left belt holster
Tagger - similar to a dart gun, bullets instantly splinter upon impact and send a tracking signal - stays in right thigh holster
Cracker - similar in appearance to an old west revolver, holds twelve rounds, if the bullet don't kill ya, the poison sure gonna - stays in right belt holster
Six Throwing Knives - as sharp as his tongue, perfect aerodynamics - keeps three on either side of his belt
Dagger - used only in extreme circumstances - kept in his boot sheath
Boot Knives - used only in extreme circumstances, deadly and unexpected - built into the sole of his boot and activated to shoot expose at the toe by kicking heels together

He is also extremely skilled at piloting space ships, though that life is not one he cares for anymore.

History
Born to a couple of drunks, Kaladin knew love from only the Libran knights. As a child, the boy desperately tried to win the love and affection of his booze-loving parents. Didn't last long. He was barely eight years old when his parents got into a fight. His mother pushed his father too far, and young Kaladin got in the middle of the mess. The old man took Kaladin's mother down, then opened the child's face with a dull blade, punishment for the boy's love.

So, he moved on. There's no other way to put it. Alone and confused and trying to be accepted, he found his way to the Libran military, specifically the space fleet. He trained hard and made his way up to the rank of Knight, the highest in the fleet. Then, one day, there was a malfunction with his ship's weapon system. He accidentally shot down his partner's (and lover's) vessel, then crashed his own, hoping for his own death. Unfortunately, he failed. Kaladin emerged with scars covering his body. He could've called for help, but he didn't want it.

To this day, he won't speak of how he survived or even got to Edanith. Instead, he headed out to the frontier, wanting to earn his own way in solitude and doing small tasks. Over time, his concept of honor and loyalty and duty just became corrupted and pointless. Against his own will, he gained a reputation around the place as a scarred man with a scarred soul, someone who couldn't afford to give a shit. If he did, he might actually start to care.

He had nothing...no friends, no family, no hope...nothing that could be taken from him, except his life. And the rate at which he wasted any pay on alcohol told just how much he really cared for what was left of it. His skills can now be borrowed or hired, but he'll never truly be bought. The man knows his time is limited, so Kaladin does what he does to simply stay alive.

Gospel Subnetwork / Angels for Freedom

This has not been easy. Being part of this is probably the most difficult thing I have ever done, lying to my friends and my partner. I really can't even remember the last time I was genuine in front of those I care about.

I knew what I was getting myself into, though.

Things have been crazy lately with so many events being blamed on the Gospels, but I have yet to see any real differences being made...

So, in the spirit of freedom, let me hear the voices of my brothers and sisters... The voices of the angels of the battlefield... Who is still with us?

A buzz echoed in the room, and Gwyndolenn looked up. "Come," she said, sitting straight behind her desk. The metallic door slid open and a young man in standard issue uniform walked in.

He bowed his head. "Pilot Royal Gwyndolenn Achetiorr," he said.

"Pilot Maxtul," she said. "What is it? You look upset."

The young Pilot approached her desk with a sealed envelope marked CONFIDENTIAL. "This came for you a few minutes ago."

"Thank you," she said, taking the envelope. "You're dismissed."

The Pilot walked out of the room hurriedly, and Gwyn opened the seal. She pulled out a piece of parchment. It was interesting: nobody used parchment anymore.

Dearest future niece or nephew,

You do not know me, nor do I know you, but I have an important task for you. My name is Celegwen Perkhimote, I am an Elf Dragonrider from the city of Adela. I am not aware whether or not this will ever reach you, but I sincerely hope that it does.

If you have followed in your family's ancient traditions, you have become a Dragonrider as well. I am sure you know how incredible of a thing the bond between dragon and rider is, so I urge you to tell your dragon partner of this letter.

Long ago, I left a magical artifact to my brother and your great-great-great grandfather, Eruann Perkhimote. He then gave it back to me to give to my children. My children never became Dragonriders, but his did. It is an ancient and magical device from years before my own birth. Enclosed in this letter is a map which leads to the heirloom.

I wish you the best of luck. May the gods guide you, and may your dragon's wings glide on luck.

Physical Description
Gwyn holds herself proudly, just as any Pilot would. She has pointed ears with devices implanted deeply in her inner ear to improve her hearing. She has golden eyes that excel when it comes to night vision. Gwyn's black hair is kept braided and completely shaved on either side.

When she's off duty, she wears simple clothing, a long-sleeved shirt with pants over well-made boots. When she's on duty, prefers to wear her jumpsuit for dragon flight, though she always follows the mandatory dress code of the Pilots.

Personality
The stresses of the Pilot Candidate Program didn't take as much of a toll on Gwyn than it did on most of the other trainees. She was a happy-go-lucky child and stayed that way all through the rigorous training. Her generally relaxed self gives those around her the the ability to be themselves with her, as she can easily let go of her military status to just have fun with others off duty.

When on duty, Gwyn's responsible side comes out and she is one of the more respected among the Pilots. She doesn't have any complex that makes her believe she is any better than another Pilot, but she definitely won't have any problem assigning blame and discipline to those deserving.

Magic/Abilities
She is a perfect shot with her bow. Luckily, her custom bow compresses itself to the size of a metal flask for easy storage. Gwyn enjoys her bow much more than a gun, simply because it connects her to her ancient Elf ancestry.

She excels in illumokinesis, the third tier of psionic specialization. She has always absolutely loved manipulating light, using it to play harmless pranks on people or just for her own entertainment.

Dragon: Vendremdirr

DRAGON: Vendremdirr is 81 years old and had been through three Pilots before Gwyn. On all fours, he stands at 13 feet tall. From nose to tail, he measures 29 feet long. From tip to tip, his wings span 42 feet. His skin is completely black with a silver stripe from his nose to his tail. His eyes are mechanically advanced, giving him better sight than ever imagined. He also has armor built in beneath his skin on the bottom of his neck, on his stomach, and on the top of his skull, which protects him from electromagnetic interference and attacks. His tail is also mostly mechanical, which has a sharp tip to use as a weapon.

History
Gwyn grew up with her older brother and her mother. She was discovered to be psychic on the day of her thirteenth birthday, which was sadly cut short for her to be brought to the ATC for the start of the Pilot Candidate Program.

She made a friend during Stage 2 of training, but her friend was sent to TRIM after he suffered an extreme mental breakdown. She never saw him again.

Gwyn was a trickster since she could walk, but the Pilots tried to break that part of her and institute discipline in its place. Instead, she found a way around it.

She flew through the program at an incredible speed, and if it was allowed, she could have graduated at sixteen years old. Gwyn spent a year and a half in Stage 5, learning the politics of the Pilots and forming a bond with a great dragon named Vendremdirr. He instantly chose her, but their bond was made official on her eighteenth birthday.

In the duration of their partnership, they quite literally soared through the ranks until reaching Pilot and Dragon Royal.
